In this video, I’m going to take you for a walk down Cromwell St in Gloucester to show you what it looks like today in 2023.
This is which is the road where one of - if not - the UK’s most famous, and prolific serial killers, or killer couples, lived - and that’s Fred and Rose West.
It’s also the scene where many of their crimes took place, and where the remains of 9 of Fred and Rose’s victims were found, with the remains of 3 more bodies found at other locations.
Cromwell Street is located near to the city center, and like most city centers, it’s not the nicest of areas, but it’s certainly not one of the worst.
I can walk down this street any time of day or night without many concerns.
Knowing what happened here, however, there is an eerie feeling that comes with walking down Cromwell Street, even though it’s been almost 30 years since police and investigators starting digging up the property looking for victims.
25 Cromwell Street was located at the end of the row of houses you see on my left at the beginning of the video.
The house was actually demolished a couple of years after Fred and Rose were first arrested back in 1996 and the crime scene was cleared.
A footpath now runs right through where 25 Cromwell St once stood leading to access to the rear of the houses.
For years after the crimes there were flowers and other mementos left here on a regular basis, but a lot of time has passed now as have many of the victim's families and loved ones.
As I walked down the path it was hard to think about the victims, and how I’m literally walking over where some of them may have been buried under the patio and in the basement that was underneath 25 Cromwell St.
