Stops in:
Ajo, AZ

Welcome to rural AZ! I just take snacks and plenty of water, make it a point to keep an eye out for a lone palo verde tree on the roadside every hundred miles, and take a breather. But I love those lonely roads in the desert.

Love the paper map and from what I see no gps. Love the old school feel. I have a road king classic as well and just love going on road trips with it. Keep up the great videos!

Thanks! I try to keep the technology to a minimum. I do check the gps map on my phone when I stop, but nothing is giving me turn by turn directions as I ride.

Nice video series. Thanks for taking us with and sharing. Shout out to the Jonquil Motel @ the 4:30 mark. Owner is Sterling who operates “The Motorcycle Travel Channel” here on RU-vid. Another great dude with a bunch of great content. Hopefully you got to meet him. Glad your trip went well and look forward to more. Cheers!

I lived in Yuma for a while. Visited San Diego several times. Lived in Austin a fewyears, visited big bend several times. Live in Jacksonville now, sold my super glide, getting a road king next summer, going to ride back to northern California for a while. Enjoyed your vids.

Video editing is hard work isn’t it? Yet oddly satisfying, when it’s finally uploaded. Great job on the video, as well as the audio mix. Watch out for the animals. I was hit by a deer in 2015, stupid thing jumped at the last second and landed right on top of me! my neck has never been the same, but I still ride, dirt and street. Best of luck to you!
@CrunchMoto

The hardest part was filtering through ALL the footage. I had about 17 hours of videos + photos when I finally made it home after the week.

@@CrunchMoto It's hard to let go and cut out those beautiful clips that WE love, but doesn't move the story. I think when editing, writers call it; "killing your children". I hate doing it.
@CrunchMoto

I recently learned that phrase too. That's why my videos from Day 2 and Day 3 are half as long as Day 1.

It's good to see you wearing full gear and riding responsibly. This looks like a great trip/adventure. But I must say that, having driven cross-county a number of times, twice this year alone, I don't see the wisdom in departing in the morning with "almost a full tank" of gas. Especially after running out of fuel on day one. Stay safe and enjoy your trip.

As a new rider I did indeed enjoy your trip. Thanks for posting the chronicle and for keeping it simple. When I was much younger I drove my '78 Toyota Hi-lux across the country on pretty much the same route from San Diego. I hope to take a trip like this sometime soon on my bike. Thanks again for posting.

I bought it used, it has the usual slip on pipes and the stage 1 upgrades, 12 inch apes, and I put a Saddleman seat on it. Stock other than that.

How would you rate the overall trip riding wise on your Road King cross country? Would you have preferred a Street Glide/Road Glide instead perhaps?
@CrunchMoto
@CrunchMoto 2 года назад
The Road King performed great for an 18 yr old twin cam 88 ci. On those long stretches of Texas highway, I'm sure a new Road Glide would have been smoother and more comfortable and I know the 6th gear would have been nice. All things considered though, no real complaints about the bike. Just rider error in tracking fuel mileage. Thanks for watching!
