Jeffery Thompson in cross country you can easily make it to a collegiate level if you just work hard in football and basketball for example there are a lot of guys that work extremely hard, but get overshadowed by guys with a lot of talent and don’t make it.
I had tears streaming down from failed dreams in this sport and track. Always made it to conference finals and state and places in college and all conference. Never could make an Olympic team or make it unattached. It's a sport I can't explain, running 40-60 miles a week, and speed training on the track. Physically it can break you down and tear you apart.
I remember getting really sick the morning of a big state meet in high school, so now some nine years ago. I still ran but I did terribly. To this day I don't know what I had. Really bad food poisoning or stomach flu. I miss those days. Feeling nervous before the 3.1 mile race, driving 2-3 hours just to get there because we were a tiny 1A school. My coach always got us pizza or McDonalds after our race. The one time we tried to eat big macs before our race was a day I won't forget..
Very cool video. My knees haven't let me run in 30 some years and I miss it so much. I see young people with perfectly good bodies sitting around playing video games or staring at their phones and nothing else and it kills me.
God bless you. I don’t know what I would do without my wonderful legs taking me everywhere. I am so thankful to god for it. And I hope one day you’re able to run again. Just gotta have faith.
today i made varsity cross country as a freshman which has been my goal for all of pre-season but what surprised me was that i got first so yes, running teaches you that you can always do more then you think. good luck to everyone this season :)
I remember watching a state meet in Arizona where the top five runners in the small school division all came from the same school, Hopi Boys School, from the Hopi Reservation in NE AZ. They made a perfect score, in a state meet.
cool adj lol that’s true and when you have your buddies by your side you push yourself and each other to the limit so you never let them down or let yourself down No easy way No short cuts When Coach says jump you ask how long 😂
Yeah, I stareted to compete in the 800 and 1500m on the track. Then I switched and I dare say that the training camps and camaraderie is at the top. And if you ever have the chance to partake in a relay abroad, then you should. You will bond with the team and do everything in your power to carry that stick as well as you can.
I've just joined a running club in my 30s. I am going to do some cross country this year. I was quite good at cross country during my school days and the PE teacher kept saying that I shouldn't be because I have quite a musclar frame and broad shoulders LOL (like a sprinter). I am looking forward to it. The thing I like about running is it is so inclusive and something for all (even those at the back) and I am actually a lot better than I expected too.
neon vortex I only ran Nike regionals and the Woodlands 5k. I would have loved to run under the lights, but I ran for Marcus HS so we ran the Hebron Hawks 2 mile.
Fuck passion get obssesed. If you are passionate about something everyone is on your side they are happy you found your love. GET OBSSESSED! BE misunderstood
Are the Cleaveland Freckles ready yet for some greatness yet? Though I like the Bengals helmets and the Buckeye luck it seems like it nieds to 🐝 the Freckles ➕🌞. But of course it’s not all about the state of Opium Roll Your Own. I think the XC runners might nied an XC course that is mostly ☘️🍀☘️ so runners don’t really nied to visualize a course.
🐈🐎 we nied to kall XC ‘Sphere Cross Country’ or ‘Circle Cross Country’ or 🌷🐝 🌖 or 🌞 XC. The sport was started in England and they have a cross on their flag without a circle @ it. 🥇 spacetime is year 0 of Contempory Polytheism with the year changing sometime @ mid September if I recall.
Man i feel her pain, running is not like lifting weights, ive been doing powerlifting style training for years, i always loved sprinting and middle-distance running. I stepped on a track and after 5-10 sets of all out sprinting 100m i couldnt walk after the last set, i had instant soreness, i had to sit down for at least 5min to walk home again, while walking home my calves cramped up, hamstrings cramped up. No squat or deadlift has ever giving me this much muscle soreness that running has done
