Running is the foundation of skiing. XC ski race a 15 km and you output much more power as well as have to engage the balance mechanism. The biomechanics of running and skiing are nearly identical. Strength, Endurance plus Balance is what separates the two challanges. Skiing is a year round sport and activity. As any worthy skier, for instance Jessie Diggins knows. Jessie will ski on wheels a greater part of the year than on snow. Run, ski, ski or run. The person with mastery of both running and skiing is the person reaching the maximum challenge of processing the Sun's energy through the human mechanism efficiently. What form of roller skiing is the most viable to commute to work with everyday? Now that is a very interesting question these days.
Jordan Hasay - as a runner for the University of Oregon she is the most decorated runner in school history with 15 combined all-America awards, two national titles and four Pac-12 crowns.
I bugs me when people say XC is easy all you do is run, there is no skill involved. Okay, well you are never the best until your the top runner in the entire world. Even then the younger generation will be chasing after ya.
yeah. it is really tough at times to do it and some people think you can just go from sitting on your couch to running xc in a day but that isn't true.
I was in about 4th place when we were halfway done. Then this guy behind me fell down and injured his knee badly. I couldve won, but i went back to help him.
I hate when people don't take XC seriously. In our bi-state meet two girls JOGGED the whole thing, and carried on a conversation, because they said that it was too tiring to run, causing us to lose horribly.
+Dawson Hilfiger That race was actually at the California State Championships where she ran for her sick coach but physically broke down. She crawled across the finish for her coach, their team won the most state championships for xc girls.
at 2:53 my luck would be that i get beside that one jerk that would make me fall and make the world blow up.. and yea.. i dont have the best.. well cross country luck XD
Running requires only the skill of running...because it is not a game. So yes, all you do is run, run really hard, really fast, push the human body to the absolute limit, truly leaving it all on the field. If your sport has a countdown timer, then you cannot leave it all on the field/court/anything. Nobody collapses after a basketball game, after a soccer game, football game. These games will never challenge you physically and mentally the way that running does. I dare anyone to prove me wrong.
I know we all wonder every time we see her, anyone else want to weigh in on whether Paula Radcliff was on EPO during her world record marathon? That is the greatest world record in any sport (men or women), it would be Olympic A-standard FOR MEN.
