With a sad heart I have to say that in my opinion what you are saying is very close to the truth. But I would also like to say that to a lot of people these cheap, potential e-waste products, do manage to bring some joy and they can dabble into tech toys. In my country (India) there are millions of people who can hardly afford these let alone the expensive ones. And for some of them these products in some cases might even make sense. One example I can think of is some of the dirt cheap smart watches offer voice calling (via bluetooth) and someone travelling in a crowded bus or train could potentially not have to take out their phones. There are a few other such potential use-cases. So I would say that despite the truth being bitter there is a little potential of positivity these bring. And even for many people who can easily afford the Apple and Samsung Watches it is a low cost way to enjoy some of the features without spending a ton of money. When they feel they are ready to spend the big bucks they can buy those instead.
