Thank you for this very informative video! Just like this patient, I have a narrow upper arch and 6 gaps, that include the 2 front teeth and I was considering braces. However I am 25 and was wondering if it's too late for me to have my cross-bite fixed? My lower arc is definitely wider. I will appreciate the help!
hey doc! how old is the patient? isnt it a risk to do a RPE when the patient is more than 14 years old? since the palatal suture has already been closed? arent there any risks of microfactures with older young adults?
I just had upper jaw surgery and my palate wasn't expanded during the procedure. I have a posterior crossbite on the right side and a crossbite 'tendency' on the left now but they said they'd fix it later on. Not sure which one of these would apply to me as i'm 26 now 🤷♂️
I'm not sure what's wrong with my teeth, my teeth don't close properly and the right side of my mouth (top teeth)don't align correctly to the bottom teeth can you explain to me how to fix it?
Thank you for this video! I’m in my 30s and have a cross bite on one side is it still possible to fix it in your opinion? I also have problematic upper number 6s that I want to remove. I have perfect #7s and number 8s. Do you think it’s possible to remove 6s and move 7s and 8s forward so there is no gap and it looks like I have actually 6s and 7s?

Dr. Please.. I've a case of moderate crowding..after leveling and alignment.. and things were very good.. but since I reached 19*25 NiTi.. the upper left 2 became with more +ve root torque, the crown flared more labially.. and tipped distally.. I did all I know to solve the problem.. it was hopeless.. spring torque, _ve torque bend, inverted the bracket upside down, regarding the tipping, I did a z bend on round and rectangular wire, changed the position of the bracket, and made it slight more tilted and returened to round NiTi wire.. it was all with no result.. please Dr. your kind opinion 🙏🙏
I would take a pano or PA of the tooth and verify that the root isn't in contact with the adjacent teeth. If the root is tipped it may have a hard time coming buccal. I will usually flip the bracket upside down, drop down to a lower Niti Archwire, get full engagement with the wire, and then working up to a full size archwire. As long as the wire is full engaged this should get more labially root torque. As long as there's no interferences this technique generally works well. Hope that helps!
Doctor i have crossbite elastics and this upper molar at 1:19 has jumped and now that molar's position its right on top of the lower one and i cant really close my mouth. The thing is that it does move more slowly than others. I have been wearing cross elastics for 2 months.
At 22 years old, is it too late to use a RPE for expansion? I have a unilateral posterior right sided crossbite. I had braces put on about a month ago, no expander. And also don’t remember my ortho discussing anything about me wearing an expander in the future. this is my biggest concern about my smile, the way my teeth are narrow and I don’t have a full rainbow/wide smile. Now I’m concerned if I’m getting adequate treatment? I’m definitely going to present my concerns to my ortho at my next visit.
Expanders generally work best in teens and pre-teens. At 22 it may be too late for a traditional expander. There are some other treatment options such as crossbite elastics that you can possibly use depending on the severity of your crossbite. Definitely ask your doctor and see what they suggest.
