I have to give you some sad news. The Kiha 85 series trains are aging and will be replaced by newer models within a few years. The new HC85 series trains will debut this year.

The snow covered Japanese countryside is so beautiful. The hills and valleys with homes tucked into the landscape, I would love to see this route when the trees are green and lush in summer. Thank you, this was a treat.

Clearly there is approximately a lifetime's worth of train-research to be done. And then you'd have to start over to see the station updates and new trains that came online in the meantime :)

So strange... I've never had any particular interest in Japanese art or culture. I don't even know about anime, as so many westerners do... And yet the culture the landscapes and the peace are so stunningly familiar to me. I must have had a past life or two there. I'm way less private and reserved now as I would have been in said previous lives, so I'll say something here I wouldn't say back then which is: I hope you find Love and maybe one day travel with friends. You seem like a wonderful young man. Thank you for taking all of us with you on your travels.

Once again you are sharing a beautiful video of my favourite train ride. Every year we catch this line to of to Takayama for our holidays. Last year we did the trip from Toyama, and it looked exactly the same as it was snowing heavily. Thanks so much Kuga for bringing back this precious memory to me :)

That was so nice. That's a lot of snow! I stepped on snow once, not enough to cover my shoe. Then it melted a couple of hours later. I would love to see that much snow....in a warm train. Thank you for the beautiful ride.

That was beautiful. It was a gorgeous study in monochrome, with the occasional bit of color from a signal light. I enjoyed watching all of the scenery - by the river, along the forested area, and in the towns. It was like watching a haiku about wintertime. Thank you for posting this.

I was in Takayama in 2015, when the new station was in building and in 2017, when it was finished. The new station looks awesome. Thanks for this chillful travel. it was really a pleasure to watch it.
