Thanks again for your endless hospitality and friendship. Though a rougher ride than we wanted, it was certainly worth the effort cause we had a wonderful weekend. I can't wait to see the next video of Browns Cay, it was certainly an amazing place. We find ourselves back home in NC reminiscing of what a special first crossing to Bimini it was, I recommend this trip to every one of your boat enthusiastic scribers out there, its now been checked off by bucket list and we're ready for the next venture from the Miami Living 305 play book.
I was not saying that if we leave by Key largo it would be choppy because look how it look right out of the channel already which is why we went up to miami. at 1:08 its not even 1ft waves but we are in bay still.
Great video Ariel. Taking some time to catch up on watching your videos while setting up some swordfish rigs. Welcome to my bad weather world out there. Thanks for sharing this video.
The trip to Bimini was absolutely amazing. Even though the water was a bit choppy, I slept most of the way over. I highly recommend the bean bag chair for the boat! My ride was fabulous. Arriving in Bimini was the most gorgeous views. The water was absolutely the most gorgeous shade of blue. The beautiful home was so welcoming and absolutely done to the nines. We were fortunate to stay at Bimini Water Front Villas. The food, people, water activities, breathtaking views, private islands… I could go on and on. Bimini is a must see travel destination. I look forward to going again and will book the gorgeous Bimini Waterfront Villa. This was definitely a trip of a lifetime.
@@MiamiLiving305 do you bring an extra 6- or 12- gallon gas can? do you always run in the "channels" that most boaters from Miami run in, to Bimini? There's safety in that?
Done that trip a few times! The waves can be rough. Have flown back a few times because couldn't handle going back😄 Bimini waters are beautiful. Thank you for sharing! Hope you had a nice time!
You live in Florida and been to Bahamas more than 10 times and you said “CONTCH” ? driving on the wrong side of the road over the bridge. Hope you had a safe return.
I watch your videos on the Bimini crossing. We have a Cobia 262 and are planning on doing the crossing in April/May. Why don’t you take your Cobia 350 regularly on this trip?
I have taken the cobia to Bimini but if I’m only going with a few people like my wife and kids I’ll take the SeaHunt which takes the chop great and I save on fuel (v8-v6) and marina which they charge by foot! I also did a a trip in the cobia in which I did not record at all I actually enjoyed that trip without the work. Now in this trip I wished I was in the cobia instead but did not think it was gonna be that bad
I have to ask and I apologize Your Videos are fantastic and I just subscribed love the ocean and the different variety of areas in South Florida Miami is fantastic. Anyhow How did you get started in this and what do you do for a living ? I have been a nurse for 23 years and want to get out of it the Ocean and waves is my style and sun !! Keep up the great content !!
I grow up on the water with my Cuban grandparents that were big fishermen! Ever since I can remember I was sleeping in our boat every weekend fishing diving and my passion for the ocean was instilled since a young age. As I grew older and was able to afford a boat myself I decided to not only recreate it for my kids and family but to share with the world. I combined my knowledge of the ocean and my video editing skills to make this channel for people to not only enjoy but learn also so that they can do it themselves!
A terrific time, bashing over the Gulf Stream at 40 knots! Two 300 hp outboards, probably using about 40 gallons of fuel per hour (consecutively and paying $7.50 a gallon! Not to mention abusing your thoracic spine, puking you guts out, and thinking about doing the same dumb thing going back to Marathon on Sunday!
It’s about the smiles per gallon not the miles per gallon. I have never been sea sick and at 33 I still don’t suffer from any pain ask me again when I’m 50 tho! Do it Sam!!!!
What is the length of your Boat. Make and model if you don’t mind. I am looking to get a boat . I like the ride for the weekend. I have boating experience just looking for something I can do a trip like that. Thanks for the video
it looks like it's a following sea from key largo....should have just gone straight. And sure enough you have a beam sea crossing from miami. Always choose a following sea if you can. Plus you added around 10-15 miles to your trip.
@@MiamiLiving305 your wife was soaked entering bimini. And it would have been the same time or LESS to cross if you just surfed the following sea COMFORTABLY. Never take a pounding if you can avoid it. Things break....you waste gas....and it's safer.
@@rod272727 the way the weather was she was gonna get soaked regulares I personally rather do 50 miles with waves coming on my starboard vs 80 miles in a following sea going slower to not be jumping off the waves when following
I have a 25’ gamefish. As I watched I was thinking how autopilot isn’t ideal for these seas, and so you’d want to hand steer to finesse the waves, especially if you have the wife and kids. And then you mentioned exactly that. Great video!
Nice video and the boat can take that fairly mild slop. The USA seems to love open bow designs, but I can't help thinking that a closed bow design offers far more seaworthiness offshore, especially down wind, should you stuff it. Any reason you are not wearing a life jacket? in UK it is required under maritime by all commercial seafarers in small boats.
Not in the USA maybe cause my boat is not commercial and instead a private vessel! They do require it for kids 12 and under or when riding a personal watercraft
If you want a more comfortable ride, just take all trim your tabs up cause you got kind of a following Se, and also slow the boat down about 5 to 10 miles an hour. It would be a cakewalk. Just take you about 20 more minutes to get there.
Yea if I told my wife that she would be like hell no I rather get there already, 20 min earlier! I did take the trim up to about half way to not dig the bow too much going over the following seas.
I’m curious about the Cobia. As someone who has more than one boat I get it, but I have 2 different boats. A 20’ ski/fish and a 30’ express cruiser. Different boats for different jobs. Maybe I missed the video where you talk about it, but why buy a second 30ish foot center console? I know those boats aren’t cheap and the cobia seems to not get much use. Why not a cruiser as the second boat. As much as you cross to the Bahamas it would make sense to have a boat you could stay on. Either in a marina or out alone on the hook. Anyway, just curious. To each their own. Safe boating.
Cobia is for family trips as my family is quite big. In 2023 I never had the chance to do that big family trip I wanted to pull off but in 2024 I will! I want to start doing over nights on the cobia me and the wife which is one reason for the boat ! I also wanted a boat with more range which the cobia does for spots that are more far! This year a lot of my plans have not worked out and that’s why you have not seen the cobia as much. I have also gone out a few times in the cobia and not record it. Soon the cobia will get more use along with my ski! As you you get older time becomes the biggest problem you have.
I really like the Sportsman hull for offshore Florida. Nice and heavy and very dry. The Cobia hull is great with 300s on it. Anything less and it's kind of a dog.
Nice trip, for us boaters maybe when you give MPH also give RPMs, it's nice to gauge how your boat does from a performance standpoint. Would love to run my Pursuit down there but it'd be a heck of a ride from New England LOL.
Nice place!!! thanks for showing how weather conditions can change so quickly!!! this should teach people to always be prepared!! Bimini next year Baby!!
That’s what 60 degree deadrise looks like. Waves were to close together so had not choice to trip down and I usually also trim engines up 2 tabs to even it out
I always go on the wrong side for the first 20 sec till I see a bike or car heading at me head on! I had cut the camera before I had time to admit it on camera lol.
I love this video as it is my dream to own my own boat and do the same trip - several times like you. lol. Just notice at 18:19, were you driving on the wrong side of the road for a bit? 😂 I hope that you had a great time.
two comments and a question -- who is doing aerial work and if it is your drone, what model is it? Comments now -- I was born and raised in Miami and Bimini was like our backyard when it was REALLY an island, but we were always told the captain goes to Immigration and the rest of the crew has to stay onboard. Has that changed? Also, don't know where you are from so I won't shell you for this one but it is pronounced "CONK" our northern "visitors" always say "CONCH" with the "ch" sound.
I do all of my own shots including Aerials! I have a few drones all of them dji. I’m sure that it is still in place but I guess not enforced by any of the agents in Bimini especially after COVID. Well since I’m Cuban I call it how it’s pronounced in Spanish (Concha). Same thing when is say isla-morada which in English for purple island
@@MiamiLiving305 well your vids are beautiful and your aerials just reinforce them. I know you were calling it by the name you were used to. -- just thought I would pull your chain a bit. That AB&B was really beautiful. Maybe one of these days we will get together and I will tell you about how Bimini was back in the late-50's and early 60's.
Bro, I can't wait to start boating these waters. I'll be buying a boat in and around April. You got me between the Sportsman and Key West. I want a boat set up for fishing, but it's gotta have all the family imenities. Thanks for all the content. I watch them all...
Look at Jupiter boats or Edgewater, built for trips such as what he did. I have a 38 and do the trip to Bimini with ease. BUT we always go tandem, never alone.
if necessary you can get a rubber / canvas fuel bladder 25 - 50 gallons (you can put it in the front to keep the nose down) and it will allow for extra fuel; when able hand crank it into your regular fuel tanks = good to go!!!...good times.
That's far enough where things can change before you make it. Anywhere in the world, on the ocean EARLY, get off, or back before afternoon winds hit, as a general rule.
Welcome to the Miami Living Family! I take pride in always answering subscribers questions so look forward to hearing back from you in other videos! Have a Blessed Day
Aside from the water getting to cold for me to enjoy, In the winter months the winds tend to be stronger since the cold fronts are rolling in which makes the seas harder to cross. Stronger winds equaled higher swells
Yea it’s def a game changer when you have your boat sitting in your backyard! No Marina needed,Much Safer, Also No Need To Rent Carts! They Are Included
Trim the out drives up until you feel the the boat break lose the put one tab until you feel the boat move and then the other one the same way and the more tabs you use the bow will go down . And by trimming out drives you use less fuel and get more speed.
@@MiamiLiving305 take a test ride on one eastward boats is on the east coast in fort pierce. I’m on the west coast out of Clearwater we regularly run 60-90miles offshore. I have some running videos on my page. Look forward to a Bahamas run one day.
