I've been racing harness horses for quite a few years and have to say that this is one of the worst videos I have seen. The drivers would not have a clue and neither would most of the people commenting. Some nice horses there ruined by road racing !!!
I'm getting addicted to watching trotting races.. I'm just wondering a couple of things if anyone can answer I would be grateful :D .... Why do some of the horses have 'bondage' on and the others just have standard driving set up? For example at the beginning of the race the horse on the left of the main man in the video, in yellow and blue with a white hat. His horse has normal set up then almost like some pessoa contraption. Also what is the purpose of the bandage/cloth tied at the knee? Why not just use full boots? or knee guards? Also, when coming down the inclination some of the horses appear to not be trotting, is this allowed? Do trotting breeds experience a lot of leg/back problems? they really seem to splay their legs out all over the place and in other breeds it would be considered a conformation issue?
They were pacing, not trotting. Some Pacers wear gear to keep them in that gait. Pacing is not natural to most horses. I had one that only paced, never trotted. Smoothest ride ever. 😁
These guys cant drive for shit. The 2nd place horse should be in the pocket. That way he can give and go with the leader and save some horse for the end.
Thay are not bandages, but, " knee boots"! Some horses hit their knees as they pace, or trot. That is, the opposing hoof comes up,and hits the knee on the other leg. They are called " knee boots"!
Drivers with no helmets as well, or some. Idiots. It's dangerous enough on a proper race track, but on a road? Which is a stupid place to race a horse anyway, but also a more serious fall if you come out of the sulky and your head is involved.
You need to get a driver that is not so fat so the horse from have too much weight to pull that guy needs to go on a diet I never dreamed that you use fat people so just kind of racing the toy horses that's why they have jockey to weigh so much because it's too hard on the horse to pull all that weight get a skinnier jockey and you might win the race or that guy needs to go on a diet a big diet I did to do when he's not racing horses good around to eat all day
