Today, I learned the importance of a strong border, especially if you like a wild interior. Jack touches the plants the way other people touch their children. He was born to garden. Yes Lisa, I love the strong borders too. I'm more of a large boulder gal but I think I will incorporate a small boxwood hedge. Mackinac Island is heavenly. Have you ever been?

I love how he gets down to touch the plants or the stones. It's like everything gets his special attention. Beautiful boxwood hedges with curves and the alberta spruces poping out every once and a while. Love it!

Love Jack's gardens! Believe it was this barn he had given a tour of the upstairs apartment when it was finished. His grandma's garden and yard is absolutely beautiful! These homes on the island are beyond stunning and I'm glad they keep the charm of no vehicles.

5 years ago today, I was watching Jack Barnwell’s Stroh Cottage Garden Tour, and although I was enthralled with the garden, I was thrilled with Jack’s touring partner. Michigan girl here has to explain that" Mackinac "is derived from the Native American's (from this area) word for Big Turtle (the shape of the island)....probably the reason there are huge fiberglass turtles all over the island 😊 Love this video and love seeing Jack and Laura touring such a beautiful property!

The Indian Village is a fun attraction too. have you ever driven over the Mackinac Bridge up to Sault STE. Marie to watch the freightliners go thru the locks? That's fun as well. Those gardens and homes look amazing. I can’t imagine building those gardens, and structures without any heavy machinery. They must have been a major task!🤔
