It's spring, which means it's windy. Learn how to master crosswind landings and feel more comfortable in your plane when the winds pick up.

This material is of very high quality and to-the-point. Questions were relevant and the crew behind making this happen seems very skilled. It is great to freshen up the knowledge and enjoy this very structured and well-prepared material. having the animation for sure help. Thank you!

So the reason a spin won’t occur during a sideslip is because even though we’re uncoordinated, the nose is pointed straight? Need some clarification on this. Thanks!

Sort of. It is because if the wing with the higher "apparent angle of attack" will start to stall, it would then go lower (since it loses lift) which would reduce its angle of attack. Thus it would not be in a stalling configuration anymore, to some extent. Due to the rudder input.

It can spin, but the direction it spins is favorable compared to a skid. Skids cause the plane to roll upside down on spin entry, slips cause wings to roll towards level in a spin entry. But you don't stall and spin in a slip by maintaining your airspeed in the slip (keeping in mind the airspeed may read a bit low due to position error induced by the slip). Very important to rely on pitch/power to control airspeed if/when the ASI becomes unreliable.

Love this video. Love the color palette you use! Gotta ask what the watch is that you’re wearing. That orange dial is gorgeous!

it's a slightly more complicated motorcycle, the language is the same it just has an added dimension. Lean to turn counter steer, and the slower you go the less you can counter steer.

The on-screen Heads Up Display is really helpful. How are these recorded, is it a Garmin feature?

Landing crabbed is a legit method, but with lots of limitations. Look into the Ercoupe if you disagree (coupled controls). Doesn't work for tailwheel planes. Not all types of tricycle landing gear handle it well, and could damage the landing gear or roll a tire off the rim. It should never be used without good reason, and without understanding when/why one might use it. I consider more of an emergency procedure.

Landing crabbed is a normal technique for some big jets ONLY(b737 777 747 and airbuses) They can withdraw the sideload with their side drag struts on the main gears, therefore they dont need the pilot to decrab before touchdown. For boeing this technique is in the manual and recommended on slippery runways, but should be avoided on dry runways with strong crosswinds. The plane is designed to handle a crab touchdown up to the max crosswind anyway.

does the procedure change for a twin engine plane is there a possibility for the up wind side engine to touch the ground when the bank angle is too much
@SoloRenegade
@SoloRenegade 2 года назад
you should never be banked that much that close to the ground unless you're well exceeding the crosswind limits.

The Crosswind Slip is called. The Side Slip is to move sideways only, not straight. There are 3 kinds of slips.. The Side Slip, The Forward Slip, and The Crosswind Touchdown Slip. All do different things..
@SoloRenegade

you land in a side slip. there is no such thing as a "crosswind touchdown slip", you made that up.
