A few trains arriving the Croton-Harmon, NY, station on April 9, 1993. Less than perfect panning around the depot reveals some interesting items in the yard tracks, including, FL-9s, SPV-2000s, MUs, ALCO RS-3, B23-7, and an old boxcar still in New York Central paint.

Great footage, all our favorites here! Turboliner and FL9s. 488 and those MNR FL9s pulling into the station looked so fresh!

Those FL9s were pretty sharp looking, despite them being what, about 35 years old in this video? Love how they rev up before taking off! I remember seeing a Turboliner as a kid at Albany in January or February 94, I thought that was absolutely wild. That must have been right at the tail end of the life of the non-rebuilt turbos.

Damn, Amtrak 488's paintwork is looks spectacular in this shot. I guess it had recently had a repaint?

A new paint job was needed. This is how 488 looked in 1991...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZftJz05EIIY.html

Quite honestly, Croton-Harmon is my most favorite station along the Hudson line. Wonderful video! Did you ever see 4183 off on the Hudson line?

Just think. Would those SPV2000's have worked as they were supposed to and had been the successor to the RDC's. Probably would have provided the perfect "shuttle/scoot" train services on a lot of branches and might have kept the Budd Company in business.

Yeah, you would think it would be easy to engineer a reliable RDC. It seems to be a simple concept. Even the pair of Metro North RDCs (1950s version) that were rebuilt in 1987 at Silvis, IL only lasted for four years after rebuild. They also developed problems.

I see they already had the new cab signals during that time at Croton-Harmon. When were they installed?
