i tooootally know what you mean about feeling dumb when playing animal well... it took me like twice the amount of time to beat the first ending than it did for everyone else and i got stuck for a solid couple of hours, just wandering around. but wandering around in the game is also a special experience :) been waiting for that one and Crow Country for what felt like forever and i'm so glad both of them had such successful launches
It took me a while to get the first ending too but that's because I was genuinely loving the puzzles, like I inadvertently got a lot of stuff done that contributes to the next couple of "layers" to the point where I didn't have as much to do after that. I genuinely only went for the ending when it got to the point where I realised the only stuff I had left to do were things I didn't have access to yet lol
Indie games seem like they tend to be a bit more unique (of course, I really only play a couple games, which happen to be indies, so im not the most reliable source)
I was the same, thought the game map was too small in the beginning and then next thing you knowni started solving puzzles and map just getting bigger and bigger.
Tunic was so cool I spent a couple weeks on that game. I feel animal well is a fantastic game but so short I got all 16 rabbits and the wings 2 days after release. I probably won’t touch animal well for a long time now unless it gets some dlc.
I'm not that old, the game that really changed by life, epically as a 9 year old, was the sword of ditto, mormos curse, I think that really got me into indie and metrodvanias and its just so charming
