LOL! He should have just been topless in this scene! LOL! After all, the play takes place in the 1920's where I believe pyjamas for guys was unheard of. LOL! 🤣🤣
Sure, Derek’s a snack with those arms. Yes, he has the voice of an angel. But what gives me goosebumps is when he bows to Anya, that almost kiss. It’s just such a beautiful moment in itself, just like when Dimitri in the movie realized Anya was the real Anastasia
This bow is great but it's when she enters in the blue dress and he drops down the wrenches my still beating heart from my chest and just sort of ends me
@Saskia Lamberti Ive searched to see if theres a dvd of the broadway show, sadly its nowhere to be found. I am going to Dutch version soon, but I would have enjoyed to see the original broadway version as well
They should do that once the show closes. I mean if they are so bitchy about losing ticket sales then just wait until the show comes to an end and then release the filmed version on dvd.
@@xxwhispersxx2856 Guess they don't want people to think that they could wait for all the Broadway shows to close , get the DVD version instead and not go.
On some site i find a full broadway musical with Derek and Christy and other original cast. It's a little low quality and it's a little different from this, but i love it! Original cast it's the best! I'm happy that at least someone posted this so i could saw it the whole show. It's amazing! i downloaded it and now i can watch it everytime i want it. :)
Looking at him, I feel like they brought the animated version to life. The charisma, the charm, the good looks, the witness... he fits it all perfectly.
This is by far my favorite song in the whole show. The idea that even without knowing who the other one was, they still found each other. Only true love
*I feel like I have heard this melody before. It feels like some kind of nostalgia.* But this is my first time listening to this song. Am I the only one feeling that way?
Me too!! I found the musical casually on RU-vid (never seen it before) and this song is SO FAMILIAR!!! Moreover I am not American and I don’t have familiarity nor with musicals nor with broadway so I don’t know what this song reminds me of.... but again... there is this strong feeling that I’ve heard it before
I want it to be known my only source of happiness rn is the scene where they stare at each other, both realizing Anya is Anastasia and quietly singing ‘the…’ before the crescendo into ‘PARADE’ as they run towards each other and grab each other’s arms as Dmitri looks at her hands in wonder realizing the girl he loves is the girl he fell in love with once on a day nearly 20 years ago
I want some live action movie of Anastasia then both of them shall be the leading actress damnnn that would definitely be the perfect live action of all Disney movies
He was already falling for her, then he realized she was his first love. It was like they were meant to be, but then he realizes that they can never be. So sad.
Lyrics so I can sing along to my heart’s content [DMITRY] It was June I was ten I still think of that day now and then A parade and a girl And a crowd of thousands She sat straight as a queen Only eight but so proud and serene How they cheered How I stared In that crowd of thousands Then I started to run And to call out her name As the crowd on the road went wild I reached out with my hand and looked up And then she smiled The parade travelled on With the sun in my eyes she was gone But if I were still ten In that crowd of thousands I’d find her again [ANYA, spoken] You’re making me feel I was there too [DMITRY, spoken] Maybe you were Make it part of your story [ANYA] A parade [DMITRY] A parade [ANYA] Passing by [DMITRY] Passing by [ANYA] It was hot Not a cloud in the sky Then a boy Caught my eye [DMITRY & ANYA] In a crowd of thousands [ANYA] He was thin Not too clean There were guards But he dodged in between Yes, he made himself seen In that crowd of thousands Then he called out my name And he started to run Through the sun and heat and the crowd And I tried not to smile but I smiled And then He bowed [DMITRY, spoken] I didn’t tell you that [ANYA, speaking] You didn’t have to I remember! [DMITRY & ANYA] The parade travelled on With the sun in my eyes you were gone But I knew even then In a crowd of thousands I’d find you again [DMITRY, spoken] Your Highness
That moment he kneeled in front of her, calling her « Your Highness » right after stopping himself from kissing her… PRICELESS ! Because so much is conveyed through that… The fact that remembering this common memory helped them find each other by realizing that they’re actually each other’s (kinda) first love that they thought was gone forever… but also the fact that ironically, this also took them further from each other because now, Dimitri is aware that if Anya is Anastasia, then she’s also a Princess and « princesses don’t marry kitchen boys » 😢
I watched an old version, and I loved that, but I love this one even more! The way they continue to change the show is amazing. And hats off to this couple! 😍😍 And that look on his face at 3:36 , so sad and brooding 👌💕
@@abbiecarter4578 The costumes were different and they didn't go in for that kiss at the end, and they didnt do the cute nudgy thing, they just sat there singing
Was the whole "I'm gonna die" thing with Alexei a memory??!! Cause the rest of her nightmare were basically memories. Does that mean that some time before the execution, alexei simply said such a thing while swinging???!!!!
Well... I’ve read on Wikipedia that one day Anastasia and Alexei were at the garden and he said to her that he was going to die soon. Idk if is true but
The first time I watched this I never laid eyes on the musical. When she remembered I got goosebumps and now I’m completely obsessed with the musical, so thankful for the RU-vid recommendation I received that day.
Ok! Sure! Derek's handsome! But nobody says anything about how Christy sang beatifully and how stunning she was in this scene(and how cute and beautiful they are together ❤).
The only thing I'm thinking about watching this (except Derek's arms) is that Christy was talking to us in a instalive minuets ago and her breath probably smells like candy and chocolate hahaha :) Missed those
OKAY SO I NEED TO SAY THIS BUT DEREK KLENA HAS KINDA BEEN MY NEW CELEBRITY CRUSH. Ok so here is a story. I was working on a school project about why some musicals are very successful with my friends and we got invited to come backstage to Anastasia. Mind you, i live in the Netherlands. The girl in the theater gave us a tour backstage and we could also go on stage and take pictures. We were on stage and she told us the stage we were standing on was the original broadway decor! I was amazed and it still is something very cool to think about. And i JUST watched this video and thought; wow yea hes real cute. And then i saw the floor and my mind went: waIT A MINUTE YOU WALKED ON THE SAME STAGE DEREK KLENA PREFORMED ON HOW DID YOU NOT NOTICE. and now im shook. Really shook.
this scene always makes me so emotional and teary eyed. its like I was the one who also found my lost friend or like I was the one who remembered that "its really you!" how I wished I saw Derek and Christy when they played the duo. huhiuhi
Okay I think I have a serious problem.... I haven’t listened to this song for a good month and the second I heard the sound of the beginning of this song I physically squealed
This song is so purty ❤. The rest of the show doesn't seem like it's this good but this is truly a great Broadway song. Powerful and dramatic and sweet
This is one of the most romantic scenes. The way he bows, the way they were always meant to find each other, the absolute rapture on his face when he sings about her.😊
Did anyone ever consider "I'm going to die soon, we all are" had a double meaning? It obviously recalls the execution of the Romanovs, but it could also foreshadow that Gleb is in Paris to kill Anya.
I recently watched Wicked and have become obsessed. Any cast and any scene would be amazing but you wouldn’t happen to have any Lindsay Mendez/Derek Klena scenes would you?
So I met him at the stage door after I saw this on Broadway and I literally melted. Dimitry was my dream boy since i was a girl, and Derek Klein’s is FINE, so there was no saving me
