Original founders, and really want this game to be successful! That said we are anxious about it turning out well. Have been checking in on it over the years. Hope they stick to launch date but at this point if its not ready they might as well push it back again.
First time seeing your videos. I really liked your quick, easy, and calm approach to describing the game. Definitely linking to anybody that I want to explain the game to.
Man I've played in WoW private servers with active playerbases that are bigger than this. Crowfall really needs to sort this out and actually do some bloody advertising or the game is dead on arrival. I didn't even know that the game launched before Kira made his video about the extremely quiet launch.
The combat was a bit meh, although I totally love i compared to WOW clones. You are actually aiming in this game. I just needed a bit more polish and feedback from the combat.
Hey man! Cool video, thanks for shedding light on crowfall. Just so you know. I don't think the August 11th date for release is correct. Also, if you want to ever talk crowfall let me know! Much love.
Thanks dude. I did have some doubts about the release date when I was making the video ... But that's the information I found... If a solid release announcement is made I'll be sure to add a pinned comment to the vid.... Definitely interested in checking the game out again close to the final release
Been waiting for sence Iv heard about it after its awesome croudfounding. Its a new way to play mmorpgs, heavy focus on pvp, familier and cool art style. Im coming from games like Wow and wildstar R.I.P. I truly hope this one founds a place amoung the big titles.
Very good video. Nice and open and very balanced. Do you think it's possible to actually play now as my "main" game? Are you not worried that Ashes of Creation will make the game population non existent?
I have been at the point of viewing the pledges on their website today. The game itself doesn't look particularly great in graphics, though the game still seems to have some elements I might enjoy. Still, I am hesitant of purchasing a pledge. It is said that Crowfall took in over 40 million through crowdfunding and other methods but the game clearly shows this isn't the case. At least they haven't invested that kind of money or the developers are hugely underskilled / new to gaming development. I think the biggest concern will be that at release not enough players will be online and after a month or two (especially if sufficiently promoting the game is an issue, because prior to today I never heard of this game) I fear this game will be dead or cancelled soon after its release but I hope I am severely wrong.
To fix solo player issue, do what WoW did. Enable monster hp scaling depending on amount of players in combat with it. Start off low and increase hp as more players get into combat with it.
OR dont cater to solo players in a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER game because thats completely illogical. Its not designed to be played solo, theres plenty of single player games for those people.
I know gameplay is the most important. didn't get into it enough to decide but the character creation ... it is really awful. I wanted to play minotaur too, but the customisation is so abysmal I was not happy with it. Was even more limited than other races. Also, graphic wise, it seems a bit plain ... maybe they'll grow on me ... But come one, character customisation needs a major boost
I was excited for this and paid for it right after kickstarter. To be honest I find the combat dull. Also it's just a big zerg mess when there are a bunch of players pvping. So many special effects your can't even see what's going on. And I personally don't like the art style. But in the end I paid for it and will play. I just don't see it lasting if the combat doesn't get better.
"So many special effects..." The PvP is like this in pretty much every fantasy MMO I have ever played which is one of the reasons I no longer participate in that genre.
Nice review buddy. From what we know today the Endgame is designed to be played in big groups. I'd say if you want to play solo your only viable option is. A stealth class...
Fantastic preview; even though I’m still iffy on the game itself, I really enjoyed the fair and balanced presentation. Very detailed, much appreciated. Sub’d!
I have been playing Crowfall for over a year pretty much non stop. I can say that your enjoyment of it is directly correlated with whether you are in a good guild. That is where the game shines. Very difficult to run solo.
@@danielroth7699 Yeah already the guild I joined disbanded because they could not lock down a solid schedule. The larger guilds have more than enough players to push PvP content around the clock. It's a second job without the pay.
It's not too shabby. I've been having a decent time with it. Thanks for the video. Edit: If I had any complaints it would be that they locked the respec behind a paywall in a testing phase of the game.
As far as i know, the respec will be available for erverone. The sub-users will get it for free, while the non-subs have to pay gold to respec. I cant tell from a non-sub perspecitv but i thought, that respecing in test ist free for everyone, because they granted everyone in test the sub-bonus (backers/early-adopters got free subs after launch, so i have it).
Obviously they plan to keep it paywalled it would not make sense otherwise. Test phase would make sense to be free if they intended it to be so...so greedy EA would blush
im so glad you cant solo stuff. i dont think thats a negative. if it ernds up where you can solo the game then its jsut like every other dumb mmo. still good little review and thats your opinion but please god dont make things weaker devs
It will definitely fail and I think that's a huge shame. But at this point I am not convinced that there aren't just 2-3 people working on the game behind the scenes. There is no way there is an actual full team behind this game.
Really enjoyed your review! Thanks for sharing. I actually did the crowdfunding 5 years ago and time just sorta passed by (I was also quite ill!) and kinda... forgot about it to a certain extent. Nice to see a recent update and yours, in particular! Helped re-spark my interest :)
I am not expert, but I was under the impression that the lower pops in the beta right now are due to a major campaign having just ended. Basically everyone played hard and they're taking a breather.
ah... is uh... that true? I been waiting since 2017 for people to play... Everytime i comeback no one is playing because... idk what the excuse was. Something about major things still changing constantly and theres no point as it all just gets wiped anyway. Every single time i come back theres nothing to do... Now they are bringing out a 50k tournament thing... I get the feeling that even the devs are getting tired of backers never playing.
So is this an MMO then? Everyoneis making it sounds like some Arena PVP game. Is there a proper economy? Are there way to get "stronger" or build horizontally? Look at Albion and how Guilds fight for Territory even furing the off seasons people are playing a fuck ton to grind gold, Experience, craft, play the economy, small group PVP etc. This game is super dead which really shows you how little there is to do. If they took concepts from Albion and put them in a 3D camera action mmo it'd be a big success. Right now the game is just so bare.
Been with Crowfall since the Alpha testing, but I wanted to ask for clarification around 2:02 -- As far as I can see, the gender-locked species are Elken, Minotaur, Guinecean and Stoneborn (male only) since that's the only "Body Type" selection they seem to have, and it contradicts what the review implies by the statement made at 2:06. Can Onos Gaming clarify that the selections of races are for both Female/Male options now for the game? Edit: I can confirm that the gender-locked races as mentioned above remain gender-locked, so I'm not sure what Onos Gaming implied by the statement "there is no restriction on the gender you pick for your character" since there are confirmed 4 races that are male-only. I don't mean to be antagonistic when I say this, but I'm afraid this review is not entirely sincere if there's a blatant contradiction like this sitting in there unchecked and unaccounted for by Onos.
I never heard of this game until Intel gave me a closed beta key today and I thought I'd check it out. Thanks for the video, I think this seems like a fun game to test out at the very least!
@@TheSelfHelpTube You need to stop lol, you're attacking people's opinions on every single crowfall video. Take a hint friend, game doesn't look good for a lot of people, personally i would give it a chance but i'm amazed at how horribly obscene the ui STILL is. Someone really need to tell those designers that less is more.
I just got into the beta afew days ago and I'm 22 paladin. After leaving the training world its been completely dead. The faction vs faction world typically has 25 people on it when I have been logging on and I have seen 1 or 2 people out in the wild. Like you said the bones are a good start, but I dont think I have it in me to to get to max level now it's just really boring. I joined a guild and I'm gonna see today if that helps.
I’m scared of these “community driven” games even thou the game play seems interesting. Because one the game is dependent on its population, two it eventually will become a chore to play as the interest of the collective conflicts with the interests of the individual.
Great overview. I’m about to play the beta and was curious about how it’s been perceived so far. I’m not a huge fan of the WoW type graphics but it’s not a deal breaker.
Should have named your channel "Uno's gaming". That way you could go halfway through a video praising a game and then could go "UNO REVERSE CARD" and say jk and shit on it
@@itsRiske11 lol then what a noob true mmo lineage 2 have thousands of players at once in map. Even on world boses or big Aliance sieges thousands fight at once.
@@kosoricluka MMOOORPG=MASSIVELY Multi Online Role Playing Game. You take away the more, then its just a multiplayer online game. Too many games use the MMORPG tag, having 100 people in an area isnt MMORPG, just a nice amount of people. But then, I am older, guess when I think mmorpg, I think oldschool, not todays standards
@@Zelendora Neat! Hopefully this game won't devolve into a state where PKers camp right outside the edges of the safety town border and kill anybody who steps one toe over the line!
A few things here for you. This game is primarily guild based. Most of the content requires the teamwork of multiple people. Example, all of the advanced crafting requires components from a separate crafter to complete. You can only have two gathering or crafting options at one time, and many races have bonuses to certain crafts, so it is beneficial to focus on one craft. For a weapon smith, to complete your craft, it requires a leatherworker to make you weapon grips. What most guilds do, is have a private world (eternal kingdom) that most of the crafting is done in, and people just fill the chests with components so all the crafters can just go in and grab what they need to complete their craft. There are many npc objectives that require a full group including a healer to kill. This is ment to stimulate open world pvp, as most of these bigger mobs populate a notification in event chat telling players what has spawned, and what tile it's on. Without joining the overall community, and picking a guild, you miss out on the most rewarding parts of Crowfall. You're missing out on all the progression, and the pvp, and the entire throne siege aspect. Play it some more, get to level 30, join a guild, and then you will see what this games all about.
Thank you for the feedback. That's really useful. I definitely see the potential of the game, but I think I hit a brick wall around level 20 simply because I couldn't find anyone online. I'll definitely be interested to check out the game again and give it some more time when it launches, or perhaps again on an open beta with more people around.
Here's the main problems about Crowfall, regardless of my personal opinion : - Animations are outdated, even for an mmo - Price is way too high for a game of that facture, should be around 10-15e at best or even F2P with a only cosmetic cash-shop - Has way too much bugs, I encountered over 50+ bugs in the first hour alone of gameplay - Low population will kill the game by itself, like you said in your video I had very high hopes for Crowfall, being part of the first wave of crowdfunder (my only Kickstarter btw) but testing the game a year ago and today, this doesn't look well for its future. I really don't want to call it a dead game but the poor execution, both in technical and gameplay elements are probably the reason this game will survive 2021. It would have been ok 10 years ago but not up to 2021 standards.
The MUCH better review than "TheLazyPeon's" dog shit of a video.....criticism on criticism...I just thumb down his video and started watching yours..tyvm:) THUMB UP!!!
Great video. I've been waiting years for this game and my patience is pretty much depleted at this point. I hope I'm wrong but I firmly believe that this game will be dead on release.
I haven't played the game in over a year now, but my experience so far was always to complete all the tutorial stuff and then to walk through the prairie and insta die when I see enemy players. Like does this game actually have stuff to do now?
I was accepted into beta; but they told me if I wanted to keep playing beta, I would have to preorder the game. I didn't even try closed beta because it sounds like they are trying to push sales before the player realizes how much the game sucks. Literally everyone I talk to says that this game plays like a floaty piece of shit, too.
It's perfect game for people who plays MMORPG mainly for PvP, crafting, building character. IMO there's no MMORPG that does it better than Crowfall. If you like PvE more then it's not for you.
This game needs so much more work still. It's criminal that they're advertising the game as a finished product. Bugs everywhere. Incomplete concepts. Abilities still lack animations. They don't even have inventory sorting after six years of development.
I like the concepts it brings with it's increasingly powerful enemies and decreased resources. I might give it a go if they add more enemies, cause I can see that being an issue
Crowfall would have been amazing 10 years ago. Now it feels dated, the game ran like shit and looked like shit when I was in beta a few months ago. Dated game is dated.
Looks like WoW and that game is still relevant for whatever reason. Also this type of graphics apparently appeals extremely to this generation. I think the game will do extremely well on launch.
Sounds like they need to dynamically scale the chiefs and other boss/mini bass fights so they can be solo'd, but also maybe give stronger incentives to grouping up to do them, otherwise you would have everyone splitting up and not working together. Shouldn't be tough to change.
@@Zelendora Ya I get that, but you unfortunately have to satisfy both solo and group play, so the best way to do that is to make it doable solo, but WAY better to do it as a group.
@@slakjawnotsayin5451 i mean they dont have to satisfy solo play although i do agree it would be wise for them to grab more attention by having some solo content in order to keep the game alive and as sad as it is, HD, and SP are the only game modes I've seen from Crowfall that are Solo Friendly
You hit the nail right on the head. These kinds of games depend on an active and balanced population, and there is literally no way from a technical perspective to guarantee this. Not only that but this can vary by time zone or even by certain times of year (e.g. more players in the summer and fewer when school starts in the fall). And with this game in particular, the campaign mechanic means that the factions which get an advantage early in an instance will likely dominate, meaning participation will drop off drastically from the losers as a campaign progresses, meaning even the winners will be content starved. I don't see any way to solve these types of problems. It is the reality of MMO gaming which no game has managed to properly address.
Fun game- played for a while in alpha but got too burnt. It is also VERY toxic. However, this was years ago so I may look into getting back into it. We didn't have as many classes nor did we have mounts. Has a ton of possibilities but don't think many people will play. PvP was also very boring as it was either zerg fest or very un balanced. Again, maybe that has changed.
omg... I completly forgot about that game, and glad I found it back I was looking for this for few months, is the game out yet? will they wipe the current Beta ?
i got the beta as of whenever this was commented i know its not a lot of time between the vid and now but are there any improvements in regards to activity in the servers?
I haven't been back since making the video but I suspect its a lot busier.... Based on some other comments it seems as though the devs have been inviting more people to play.
@@Onos exactly how i got my beta key, i can however say if this game takes off as you said it will be great ive only got a few hours in but glad i got the chance to be apart of the building
Been seeing a bit more hype about Crowfall so I found your video. Content being dependent on game population concerns me. Even Albion had to break down and add solo content because they were bleeding casuals and solo players (the ones who actually dump money into these games). Does the developer plan on keeping this title RvR or is the state of the game now, just the first phase of release? In other words, is the game going to grow in content on the PvE side of things or are they going to dig in on the PvP?
Played closed beta, it was short, very short. In about a day or 2 and I had nothing to do. No new worlds or anythint do to for a bit and was a bit lost. But it was kind of fun, lot of bugs but fun. It has potential but not a lot of content for now. Hope they make it right
Shadowbane immediately came to my mind as well. Great game and concept but keeping such a player driven world alive and remotely balanced is a tough task.
So you pay full price for a game that you are the content? Also not to nitpick but a game in Beta should not have missing features, that is a game in alpha.
Pretty much agree with the review felt exactly the same trying it out during the weekend. I feel its too unfinished to launch July this year yet here we go.
My experiences with "massive PvP battles" in MMOs is that the experience rarely lives up to the hype. Pretty much it is a game of player numbers, which is no fun at all, unless you like dogpiling from the winning side. Then the losing faction simply doesn't show up, which means the dominant faction has no content. There is also the graphical aspect. Once you get more than a handful of players involved, the spell-based combat looks like an explosion at a fireworks factory. In any objective-based PvP map, there is always a problem with "ghost capping" where one side doesn't show up as another caps. These games need incentives and systems for players to spread out. Being in a massive 50+ person clusterfuck zerg is just not that fun or rewarding when it comes down to it.
I can't back your numbers argument. In Dark Age of Camelot you could and still can beat 32 players with a group of 8. In Elder Scrolls Online similar things are poasible. Even in WoW WotLK. The skill ceiling just has to be high enough.
wtf people bashing on the graphics - it's stylized, not "bad". Do they really want realistic graphics instead? Almost seems like a ton of trolls out here.
Another far too grand idea for an mmorpg, get the basics down right before moving on to complex features. This looks like a joke of an mmorpg unfortunately. The boss is just a regular monster with more health xD
