Total wine should have it, if there’s any in California, we have that Specs and Western beverages and all 3 stores have it. Check mom and pop stores in your city or Costco’s liquor store should have it.
comentong on this 11 months late with my own bottle next to me that I just baut at work.Hello I work in a liquor store in Minnesota (that's as specific as I'm willing to get) here the crown 18 xr is a alocation item only. typically stores are alocated this item one a year and when they are alocated this it is 3-4 bottles. This is all info that is specific to MN. What you need to do is go to a local liquor store. Form a relationship with them. Get to know the staff by chatting them up about liquor. And then eventually asking if they can special order or simply ask if the have a list for alocated items. Our store operates on first come first serve and only sell these types of items to people we know or see around often. Hope this helps!
So I've had all 3 XR's now, (Still have a red and blue stashed away ;). I highly suggest throwing any one of these in the freezer over night and trying them cold! It will bring life to the palate notes. I find them delicious either way and am very happy crown brought an XR back to market for us to enjoy!
Interesting call, Rob! I’ll try throwing a sample in the freezer and trying it. For those up in the cold like me in Winnipeg, if the needle hits -30°C or lower you can make yourself a Crown XR 18 Popsicle. You’re welcome! Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃
I also live in Winnipeg. My wife and I on trips to GRAND FORKS, N D would bring back Crown Royal XR. I just collected it because I Iove the bottle. The taste is very smooth. We have 2 unopened cases 12 in total and 9 singles for a total of 21 bottles. ALL UNOPENED AND FULL. ALL bought 2006 to 2012 All are CROWN ROYAL EXTRA RARE RED WATERLOO, ONTARIO. Paid $130 US per bottle back then from Happy Harry's.
@@WhiskyWhistle yeah i was offered $400 us 3 yrs ago each by a wine store. i said no. they go into our will can't be sold by individuals even though its only a liquor offence i never planned on selling they are worth 1400 to 2500 us each and the longer we live the more valuable it gets and the more our kids will get when sold in estate sale by executor
I have been storing 4 boxes of red & one blue for the past 13+ years. Still looking for that special occasion to crack open a bottle down here in Texas! Never seen that 18 yo XR yet.
Hey Andrew, I’m sure it’ll show up soon. When it does that would be an outstanding event to try all three together. Your friends would flip out!! Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃
Check Specs or Total wine, they should have it now. Almost every specs and total Wine in El Paso has at least a case! Just paid $116 for a bottle like $123 after tax!
Just picked up a bottle at my local SPEC’S store for $137. They have 2 more, but I could only get one per day, so I’ll be heading back tomorrow to get another one 🙃
i personally prefer the 18 yr over the XR blue. my favorite crown is still Cask No. 16, but i really like the 18 yr. granted, im more of a Bourbon dri ker than canadian whiskey, but i prefer canadian whiskey to american whiskey and im an AVID Crown Royal Fan. enjoyed your review though!
200$ pops, here in Ontario for just 18y and 40% = blah ! . . . i'll spend it on th 18y 46% Bunnahabhain. . . or 22yo WISER Cask Strength. NICE VID ! THanks.
USD? A tad pricey but it’s no longer available - that’s much better than “secondary” prices!” If it’s not over budget and if you’re a Crown fan then absolutely!! Cheers🥃🥃🥃
How can I keep up with new releases? Where can I see a list of what has been released? Crown royals website doesn't list all of them. What are all of the nobles that been released?
It’s best to search for news of crown Royal or contact your local purveyor of whisky to let you know when something comes in! The latest noble collection release is winter wheat
My father has a 75th birthday coming up and I'd like to get him a nice bottle of whiskey typically he would sip Canadian club on the rocks do you have any suggestions?
Hi Eric, if it’s available there’s a new Canadian Club 44 year old out. It’s about $300 Canadian. For something a little less expensive Canadian Club 20 year old is excellent. He may also like Wiser’s as it’s made in the same distillery. Wiser’s 22 year old is superb as is Wiser’s 18 and 15. Happy 75th to you father! Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃
Only ever had the classic/standard Crown Royal (review coming soon). Without saying too much...just found it incredibly bland. Good to hear your thoughts on these offerings Mark. Still beautiful bottles. Even the standard. Cheers.
It is a tad but great for mixing or on ice in summer. For sippers like us CR Black is nice or Blenders Mash(can you get it there?) Northern Harvest also is a nice cheap Rye experience. The Noble Collection go one up. Yup, though kitchy, branding is on point! Cheers brother🥃🥃🥃🥃
We really struggle to get many good Canadian whiskeys here buddy. I absolutely LOVE Lot 40. It's easily one of my favourite "world" whiskys but....they do say you guys keep all the good stuff for yourselves 😉😄.
@@WhiskeyNovice The US gets almost all Crown Royal special releases and better age stated releases. Canada virtually gets nothing of interest from Crown Royal. CR 18 at $200 Cad is a hard pass. Cheers
@@peterwhite507 that's insane. It's almost like the fact that, after a short drive from my house, I can see Islay and Campbeltown but, if I can actually get my hands on some of their finest...I'll pay twice/three times or maybe more for it, than they do in places like Bulgaria or Belgium. Whisky areas, distribution and pricing are definately weird and wonderful. Cheers.
I Just Bought The Last Available Bottle Of 18 In My Town. I Will Never Taste It. I Will Save It Until I Die And Then I'm Going To. I Paid $130. That's Okay. Maybe I Won't. I Do Not Drink Liquor. I Can Not Understand Why Anyone Drinks Hard Liquor.
Try buying a basic bottle of crown and put a single drop on your tongue with an eye dropper. Then you will know! Just my suggestion. Most people gulp it down and get zero of the flavour and enjoyment. Best wishes🥃🥃🥃🥃
Well the cheaper whiskies that you would get are for shooting and or party style events, but the more expensive stuff is for very special rare occasions where one would not shoot or mice it but to be sipped very slowly and enjoyed and so on.
I've been collecting Crown Royal for about 6 years. The only bottles I do not have are Red Bag, Cask No. 16, and this. I would be disappointed if I did not get at least one.
Because when it shut down (Waterloo in 1990 and La Salle in 1993) whisky was not popular enough to warrant keeping 3 distilleries open. Gimli was the newest distillery and close to a good water source. Wages are cheaper here too, as is land. Gimli is essentially Crown Royal Town. Then you had the Bronfman Seagrams empire breaking up all over the world. Perhaps had a Canadian company bought Crown Royal instead of a UK company, they’d all still be operating. Crown Royal(Diageo) is opening a new distillery in Sarnia, Ontario.
Another useless release by Diageo, Crown is not what it use to be especially with countless release of marketing gimmicks. It’s become too commercialized. I stick to more authentic bourbons due to stricter production laws. There’s no telling what additives or flavourings is added into Canadian whiskeys and not to mention crown is always very generous on their E150a caramel colourings. Colour tests as a whole are pointless and mean nothing. $200 for a bottle of this is laughable, I’ll stick to more authentic bourbons. Thanks
Brad, I gather you’ve not tried this? It’s odd when people go out of their way to rag on something they haven’t tried. Maybe a local whisky bar has some you can taste? There are no additives or flavourings - what you’re referring to is the 9.09% rule which by the way saved the American whisky industry. 9.09% of two years or more oak aged spirits can be added - this occurs mostly in cheap USA bound export whiskies due to tax savings from an allowance created by Seagram and signed into import laws. Also in the confusing vernacular of Canadian whisky that is blended(typically at a single distillery with both pot and Coffey stills) - you have base whiskies(Coffey/column still higher still proof - light and creamy) and flavouring whiskies(copper pot still lower still proof more robust flavour) As for colour, absolutely, I wish big Canadian distillers didn’t use it. USA is the only country that doesn’t allow it in certain whiskeys(bourbon and straight anything) $200 Canadian for 18 year old whisky - about double the price of Wiser’s or Gibsons, but this is the market leader…. But it is a bargain compared to similar aged bourbon Scotch or Irish whiskeys. Plus it has sold out everywhere so it appears it was priced lower than it could have been.
