This video saved my hair! I didn't know that the itching, burning was connected to breaking. I certainly didn't know it was indicative to a disease that could lead to permanent hair loss. I'm coming at it with everything I can, from inside out and outside. Nutrition, massage, essential oils, lots of attention. It's been a month and my hair is only 1/4" long at the crown but, at least it's not bald so I know I have a chance. It's very thick but short.

Perma Frost I get the same thing, hair is healthy every where else on my head, I’m forced to wear wigs bc of it. Everyone is different but l noticed when I consume rice or breads or fast food more than twice a week in a regular basis my hair health suffers. I drink lots of water (more than a gallon a day) and I eat lots of fresh veggies and fruits and sunflower seeds. Carbs and starches don’t agree with me and my hair health, hope this helps and I wish you luck on your journey to regrowth.

I love the animated video. great helpful info, I needed to see this. Lately I have been experiencing soreness and hair loss at my crown, and assumed it was from a bad blowout ( that's one part ) , but the blowout was like a year ago, and the soreness has continue on and off and the thinning at the crown. I thought it was old age pattern baldness, but I don't see any men or women in my family that suffers from crown balding. This video will help me be more mindful of the tension I put on my crown area.

Great video! I got my diagnoses after a biopsy. I was relaxed at the time and he told me to go natural and stay away from tight braids/twists. That was about 10yrs ago and today, although I still have symptoms of CCCA, being natural has helped. My crown's condition is delicate...but texture strong. 😊

You said you got diagnosed which most black women don't know to do. Although she gave some good advice black women need to be diagnosed and may need medical treatment for the inflammation and itching and burning and stop the progression of the disease and prevent further hair loss. I've ccca and being treated; did you have any satisfying regrowth of hair I'm so hoping to get some of my hair back. I can't wear wigs so I cut all my hair to a brush cut but it's clearly very thin and embarrassing. And during your 10 yrs do you have flair ups. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Me too. It's the kinkiest part of my hair and also gets dry the fastest.

I'm white, so I don't have tight curls, but my head hurts to bad when I try to detangle, my bang area is so full and moisturized, detangle it in a few seconds, but my crown 😓😖 I thought I was the only one, can someone tell me if coconut and castor oils are gonna help me with the soreness and dryness of that part? And it seems like I have to torture that part to even curl a bit, and I have absolutely NO volume on that area, what's happening with my hair? 😞

Bernardica Vučić Zgb I go back and forth between olive oil or sunflower oil as soon as i start to itch or feel soreness at the crown. It helps so much! As long as oil is there, I experience no itchiness or soreness.

People with this condition need to go to a dermatologist. This is areal disease that requires anti-inflammatory medication to reverse the condition. You really need to add that to your video. My experience with this was that changing my diet to avoid sugar (in all forms) the inflammation was reduced...relaxers, heat or anything that cause inflammation should also be avoided.

would it be possible to make detailed videos like these for skincare in the future? I find your recipes for hair products to be very helpful and I like that you suggest all natural homemade ingredients (that work very well). I struggle with finding products that work and are not loaded with chemicals. Thanks!

Thanks so much 4 this video, I thought I was the only person on the planet w/this issue. I call that area 'my heritage' hair because all of a sudden it just changed. Became super coarse & resistant to moisture, combing, straightening or cooperating with any hairdo I tried. It was like nope I got my own thang...lol. My scalp became too tender to touch at all & the hair just started breaking so it was just a tiny wild fro in the top of my head. I looked a hot mess & I got depressed because I have very long, fine wavy hair everywhere else so it was very hard to hide. So I resorted to intense moisturizing, black castor oil & PRAYER!!! Wigs & ponytails were my life for 1 year to grow it back. It's still resistant & very sensitive to strain or stress, it will get super sore but at least it's not bald! Thanks for this post!!!

Great video as usual! I have experienced being kept under a hooded dryer for too long, usually when the stylist is very busy or wants to eat lunch while I'm under the dryer. I learned to keep track of how long I've been under the dryer and will get out from under it after 30 minutes. I have lower density hair and I know it doesn't take that long to dry. I tell the stylist to go ahead and finish her meal, but I was too hot and uncomfortable to sit under the dryer any longer. So far, they've all understood. I am the customer after all, right?

I use to have a bit of soreness years ago when I was in high school and it was due to how tight I wore my buns and ponytails and my hair was too thick for that. Eventually I experienced breakage because of that. Now I don't experience any of that since I know how to take better care of my hair.
