For 50 years I have returned to this clip and continue to find Miss Spain alluring, a timeless beauty and special beyond measure. Yes, I do feel sad to know what her future brought her and hope anyone reading this will encourage troubled youth to seek help.

1974 is probably the darkest year for both Miss Universe and Miss World since both winners from 2 pageants were resigned/dethrowned from the titles. Amparo Munoz, MU 1974 from Spain resigned because she refused to follow the organizational regulations during her reign and Helen Morgan, MW 1974 from UK was dethrowned for being a single mother with an 18-month-old son.

Thanks to technology, and the uploaders.Those of us who watched this in 1974 never got to see this again until the internet age dawned on humanity. And we only had black and white television back then. The 1974 batch was among the most beautiful. All were deserving to win. Miss Wales seemed hesitant and unsure of how she would react. It wasn't until August 1974 that she revealed she had an infant child when she was competing in the miss United kingdom. The Europeans, always liberal and ahead of their time, didn't care. She won Miss United kingdom and later Miss world in November. Again we saw it in black and white. She resigned four days after because of pressure from the conservatives. For us who witnessed miss universe 1974 in our own country the Philippines, all the top five will forever have a place in our memories.

Back in 1974 during the live telecast, my bet then was Ms. Aruba or Ms. Colombia. My friend's bet were both Mss. Spain & Wales (as Ms. World) didn't complete their reigns because both did not met the Pageant's standard shortly after they were proclaimed. Ms. Finland would've been great, too as Ms.U. Too late now.

Obviously the audience had a soft spot for Miss Finland. She had the most beautiful eyes, as can be seen in the national costume number. Small wonder she was chosen as Miss Photogenic.

The Amparo of Spain was so beautiful, in these years no time was wasted, everything was meant to be done quickly, to finish quickly.It's not like now, now they give us more suspense when it comes to crowning, But for me the Miss Universe with the most suspense was 2011, it took about three hours to say the name of a candidate.😅 And the background music had me very nervous.

Looked like Miss Wales didn't want to win. She's seemed relieved.
