I would like to know specifically when I should use Update and when I should use Create. Rightnow the CRUD-matrix says that for registering a student to a course - the course_enrollment table has to be updated, but it is then assumed that there was already information in the table about a students enrollment, right? I think that in the course_enrollement table there is actually a line created, instead of updated. Please let me know if I'm correct. Thanks in advance!
In a typical CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) system, the usage of "Create" and "Update" operations depends on the specific requirements and design of the system. However, I can provide you with some general guidelines. The "Create" operation is typically used when you want to insert a new record or entity into a table or database. It is used when there is no existing record that matches the information you want to add. For example, if you want to register a new student for a course and there is no existing enrollment record for that student, you would use the "Create" operation to add a new record to the `course_enrollment` table. On the other hand, the "Update" operation is used when you want to modify or change an existing record or entity in a table or database. It is used when there is already an existing record that you want to update with new information. For example, if you want to update the grade of a student in a particular course, you would use the "Update" operation to modify the corresponding record in the `course_enrollment` table. Based on my assumption( for this example) in the context of registering a student for a course, the expectation is that there may already be an existing record in the `course_enrollment` table for that student, and the operation would be an update rather than a create. However, it ultimately depends on the specific design and requirements of the system you are working with. It's important to consult the system's documentation, requirements, or any existing business rules to determine whether you should use the "Create" or "Update" operation for a particular scenario. It may vary from one business rule to another..I hope this helps..thanks for watching and plz subscribe...🙏🙏
Yes they both are same basically it tells what process runs on what entitiy for completing a system task...I hope u get the idea...plz subacribe for more such videos...🙏🙏
I'm still very confused about CRUD functionality. Is it possible that with CRUD you can be able to continiously check for update on a url link to a file that isn't hosted on your site. Let's say you want that file to be available for download on your site but the main url to the file is on someone else's site and you want to make sure your link stays upto date incase the person changes the link to that file. PLEASE ANSWER ME AND I'D SUBSCRIBE.
