Now this is realistic. I metal detect and I get discouraged when I watch these guys (and gals) finding silver all over the place and relics and gold rings on every hunt. Nice to know other are searching and having similar results as me. Metal detecting is about the only time in my like when I’m not paying attention to my phone, sad to say.
Thank you. I put in a lot of hours detecting and it’s been my experience that gold and silver don’t make an appearance every hunt. I try and always show my hunts as they unfold along with some views of the surroundings and things of interest. 🙂
Absolutely. 99% of metal detecting is like this young ladies day. Most of the video's show great finds like it's an every day occurrence. lol But the thrill of the hunt and the peaceful time doing it is awesome.
That white sand is amazing, it looks like it's snowed! Mother nature's beauty is boundless for sure. As a Brit, it's really sound-out to see litter-free beaches. There's too many slovenly beach-goers here that defile the beaches and coatlines with dropped rubbish, which 'saYs it all'. I always think that a good time in the outdoors is never time-wasted, the material things we hunt for are just a bonus. Especially if they bring us pleasure. Cheers for showing us some fine coastline.
I thought the same thing! Those sand dunes across the water almost looked like snow capped mountains. Our beaches here in the US seem to vary wildly. Some are pristine and clean like these, and others have loads of rubbish. I like to visit new beaches whenever I can and never know what to expect. No matter what though, I just love to be at the beach and enjoy every minute of it. (I can’t wait to come visit those British beaches too!🙌🙂🍀)
Yesterday I came across your channel. I’ve since watched several episodes. I Enjoy the content. Thanks for the time you invest. You’re doing a great job!
I live on Amelia Island which is part of Fernandina Beach, I recognized the area real well. I’m happy you came here & sorry you didn’t find much. Just yesterday I saw your 1st RU-vid video on using metal detectors and finding real cool things. This looks like a lot of fun, I can’t stop watching your videos. From Virginia to Wyoming I think I’ve watched them all. I just might be interested in taking this up as a hobby, if I have any questions I will let you know. Or if you have any suggestions on how to get started please don’t hesitate to let me know. Thank you & good luck treasure hunting. Angel 😇
That's the reality of metal detecting! There are a few retired guys around here that try to keep the beaches cleaned up. But I still manage to find a few things. We all have our dry spells. Great video anyway! Have a blessed weekend!
I think I’m always taken aback when it’s quiet at the beach. It’s probably because I don’t live near the ocean and so when I get to visit I always see people there, so I expect there to always be stuff. I’m slowly learning that is definitely not always the case. Haha. All the same, I sure love to visit the beach.💖
Yep on the OLD GUYS, I have been harassed by them because they think the beach belongs to them, and will try to chase people off that are out with a machine. And they are nasty old farts had one call the cops one me one time down in AC
🍀 Gin, not very much to show and we all have been there. It's not what you find... it's what you might find. And that's what keeps us digging. It is a Beautiful view and all of us stuck in rain and cold really appreciate that. Thanks for sharing. Be Safe and dig on.🍀
Thank you Ronnie. I know half of the country is dealing with dismal weather and so thought I could at least share the view if not much else. Hopefully spring will be here soon and bring some exciting new hunts along with it.🙂🍀
Thank you, Joseph. I think you are exactly right - you get so much more out of metal detecting if you can see it from that perspective and really enjoy the experience itself. 🙂🍀
It was sure nice to get a warm day at the beach after all the ice and snow in Tennessee lately. 🙂. If you ever see me on the beach, come say hi and swing with me!🍀
@@LuckyGin I was in FL in January, unfortunately during a cold spell. Back in upstate NY now just waiting for Spring to arrive. I will definitely say hi if I ever have that opportunity! I love to walk the beach…it’s one of my favorite activities.
Hi Gin, good little video thanks for taking us along cool ship and very nice looking beach and don't worry if the treasure is in the hunt just like gold fever. 🙂
Thanks for popping by to check out the latest. I thought I’d at least share the neat location even if there weren’t many finds to share. You are 100% right about the treasure being in the hunt. The locations and the hunt itself are what I love the most.🙂🍀
Awww, thank you so much. I’m really looking forward to the big treasure day and being able to share it with all the awesome peeps like you that stop by with positivity and encouragement. You are so appreciated!🤗🍀
Hi Lucky!! Loved the video. You can't win em all, but you work really hard & I want to be watching when you find that awesome piece, or buried sack of goodies. Hard work always pays off eventually
Thanks Jesse. After all the cold and yucky weather I’ve had at home, I was ever so happy to just be on a warm beach even if the targets were scarce. 🙂🍀
I got to meet you in Florida Hunt 8 and it was a pleasure. Your videos are so relaxing and cool. Please keep them coming. Hope you get lots of wonderful finds.
Beaches can be tough with all the competition! I searched a beach Sunday and found a lot of targets (including four rings... gold, silver, tungsten, & stainless). Went to a different beach Sunday.... Searched for hours, felt like I searched a square mile of ocean floor, finding hardly anything, but in the end found a spot holding heavy targets and bam! Two Pandora rings! 💍💍 Water is still cold so I look like I'm from a Si-Fi movie with my wetsuit and all my gear!🤿🏖️ Keep swinging, time in adds up to finds!
We’ve been to Neptune Beach and Jax beach several times and you are right, they are really picked clean. But you never know when that gold ring might pop up!! That’s why we do it!!😎
Interesting note about 1982 pennies. The early 82's are full copper like 81 and prior. Late 82's are zinc like 83 and up. You can easily check if an 82 is copper or zinc by the sound with any detector. Simply compare the 82 with a known copper or zinc. Tah-dah! Thank you so much for your most awesome smile! Blessings!
That is very interesting. I didn’t realize that the 1982s could be copper or zinc. Thanks for sharing that with me. 🤗 I learn something new about metal detecting everyday! 🍀
@@LuckyGin Yes. The copper coated zinc pennies corrode quickly in the ground too. You can tell just looking at them without looking at the date when you get used to digging them. Be aware of not often found steel wheat cents issued during WWII.
Wow Girl, you put your time in. I detect the Southern California Beaches, all dry and fluffy sand, usually around fire pits and do pretty well on coins there. Good Luck
Great job on the self video Gin. Love your dedication and passion for the hobby. Your never give up attitude is inspiring. Nice looking remote beach. Better luck on the next one. Take care.
Thanks so much for stopping by with the good vibes! The thing I love the most about metal detecting is getting to be out in the great outdoors; my second favorite thing is that there is always a chance you could find something amazing. 🙂🍀
After the slim pickings down that way in January, I was hoping the beaches further north would be better. That was definitely not the case! Still, I love to be at the beach treasure or no. 🙂🍀
@@LuckyGin Apparently this seemed to be one of the worse years for metal detectorist. No storms or anything, but any day at the beach is always a great find!
Great beaches and fun even without finds...I used to be a park ranger at Anastasia Sate Recreation area in St. Augustine...Over a million visitors a year...they always leave gifts for other to find.
Is that an area where Metal detecting is permitted? I’m not from Florida so I always have to try and research locations online. I always really appreciate info and suggestions. 🙂
Yay new video! Good job being persistent in finding a way to make a video, that was really cool of you! Nothing wrong with peace, doesn’t matter what it’s made of✌️7 hours, sheesh, I would’ve been worn out. Weird how fast that ships seem to be moving from a standstill! Seems like an optical illusion Good job!🤗🤗
I was definitely really tired when I shot this. I’d already put in 2 days of hunting at Florida Hunt8 and then stacked on two days of beach hunting. I did some serious sleeping when I finally got home. Lol Thanks for stopping by my friend.🤗🤗🤗
Thanks Johnny - didn’t those sand dunes look like snow covered mountains in the beginning? Never seen a beach quite like that one - I really enjoyed it. 🙂
Nice looking beaches and very good attitude Gin. I learned we’re all gonna have many bad days but must stay positive. You have a good idea going back after Spring break. You know there will be much more people and there gonna lose stuff. My attitude now is a bad day of detecting is still better than a good day at work lol 👍🍀
That beautiful, peaceful beach helped me stay positive even though I wasn’t finding much. That was probably the widest beach I’ve ever seen;you could detect for weeks and not cover it all. Do you have as many detectorists up your way as they do in Florida? I’ve been amazed at how big some of the Florida detecting clubs are.
@@LuckyGin the beach did look beautiful and peaceful. I love that as well, listening to the waves and the seagulls. NO way do we have as many detectorists here as Florida. Just look at the size of the two states. Florida is so much bigger and has the weather and that’s why so many retire there. That’s definitely a positive here, not as many people doing it yet we have so much beach territory. I’ll be happy getting back out pretty soon.
I'm sure a lot of people think I'll get a metal detector and be rich in no time finding all the bling ! But as you've shown it's a lot of work for little reward 😉 but I would thoroughly enjoy doing it, not to get rich but maybe find some history ... Very nice job well done 👏
Thanks so much. 🙂 I truly love living in the moment and enjoying the experience and the thrill of the hunt. It’s both peaceful and meditative, sprinkled with bursts of excitement when you have a target. Each target is like getting a little surprise present; never know what it could be. Plus, it takes me to many beautiful places that I might otherwise have never visited. I’m rich in experiences, and that’s what I value most.🙂🍀💖
I love Fernandina. It's only 3 hours from my home. Went there as a kid and took my kids, as well. If you have a chance, go downtown. It's beautiful and seafood is fresh and delicious.
I was really impressed with it and will definitely go back. Amelia island was so charming when I drove through and I knew I’ll have to come back when I can stay for a couple of days. If you have any restaurant recommendations please let me know. I keep a notebook of all the places people recommend so I can be sure to try them. 🙂🍀
@@LuckyGin It's been a few years since I've been, but the Mariner, I think is the name of the restaurant, had THE best fried shrimp I've ever had, to this day. You can walk down to where the boats dock and literally touch them. Have a great time. 👍
That is beach hunting. I always try to hit low tide. If not I hit entrances, around life guard stands. Always hit any low spot dry or wet sand. After thunderstorms has produced some great hunts for me as everyone runs off the beach as long as you can stay safe.Areas near beach bars almost always produces. Hey you got a peace sign so you didn’t strike out👋👍😃
I’ve never got to detect after a thunderstorm, but it would be cool to try. I’m hoping this year to be able to visit the beach after a big storm comes through just to see what it’s like. It’s an 8 hour drive for me though, so timing is hard. So far, I have had my best luck near the beach bars and up close to the dunes. Thanks for stopping by today!🙂🍀
Hey there Gin ,on the inside back of your sand scoop mount a 2 inch diameter magnet you'll be surprised what you can pick up in the water or dry sand with out realizing IT....
The scenes of the beach, nothing but dunes and water, are just the way the beaches at Gulf Shores and Orange Beach looked like 40 years ago. Now those beautiful beach scenes have been replaced with hi-rise condos and thousands of tourists. The flip side of this is that with all the people at the beach has created a boon for metal detecting!
If I’m ever lucky enough to live by the sea, I’ll be looking for one of the beautiful remote areas like this. I can always drive to the busy tourist spots for detecting. 🙂
Hey Gin, beautiful place to hunt, I bet a lot of people get out there and sweep the beach, maybe that's why u didn't find much, I enjoyed the vid Gin. 😊👍
You may be right about that. There was a busier section on that beach, but lots of people were parked there so I didn’t get to detect it. Maybe next time.🙂🍀
Its been a tough here most all winter. The surf temp is 65 degrees and rising . Once people start swimming again (about 72 degrees ) things will start picking up.
I’ll sure be glad for warmer weather. It’s hard to find places to detect in the winter even if traveling is an option. It’s seemed like every time I look at the weather map it’s either freezing or storming everywhere except Miami and Mexico.😩😫
Gin the weather has been too cold for the depositors to get out. Maybe it will be better after the warmth comes back. Nice beaches and you look great as always
Hi David, I kinda figured that was probably a big factor in the lack of targets. There were quite a few people out that day, but they sure didn’t loose anything. Haha I’m learning that Winter detecting is just tough everywhere. Still though, a girl can’t pass up a beautiful beach. 🤩🙂🍀
@@LuckyGin I just got a permission for about a hundred acres of woods and creek bottoms here in Louisiana. I’m hoping for some musket balls or axe heads. Anything like that would be great
Sweetheart you just keep getting prettier every day and those beautiful eyes you are gorgeous this is Bobby I hope you have a great day today thank you for all your videos I love you sure know how to bring the sunshine out that's for sure
Im from the area! Jacksonville Beach and Neptune have alot of detectors out on the beach all the time. You should check out Amelia Island State Park next time you are in the area.
Hello ..Lucky Gin... that is a wonderful full on beach for sure.. and video clip.. I in NZ beaches very y few and far between a s regards comparison.. One day I get to 90 Mile Beach actually only 60 miles.. lol..
While it does take me an entire day to drive to the beach, I’m very lucky once I get there because there are usually lots of them to choose from. 🙂. Thanks for stopping by - I’m glad you enjoyed getting a view of the beaches I visited.🙂🍀
@@LuckyGin Hi again.. it similar from driving from the west coast to the east coat.... black sand on west coast.. send detector .. to chatter.. lol... being in NZ.. can be done in a Hour or so. .west coast ..to east coast .. more easy friendly. Lol.. white sands.. on east cost.. but long drives!🤠
Enjoyed the video,Gin!!! That was a nice pendant you found!! 😊👌 I have had many beach hunts that didn't yield much at all. One time on a 4 hour hunt in Daytona, I only found a empty snack size cheetos bag , inside it was a $20.00 bill and false teeth🤔...🤭🤣😂 Anyone that has swung a metal detector can vouch for that!!😉👌 You just keep your chin up and keep a swinging!!👍👍I'm going to sit back and wait for another great video you put out!!Thank you for your videos!!😉🙏
Omg - false teeth?!?! I would die!! Lol. Is that the craziest thing you have found? The one thing I’m always afraid I’ll find is teeth. I know they bury people at sea and I just do not want to find that. 😰😰😰 I’m headed to a new permission tomorrow for a full day of hunting. Fingers crossed that it has some cool finds just waiting for me.
@@LuckyGin yes, the false teeth has been the craziest find I have ever found!! They scared me when I put my hand in the bag and pulled them out🤭🙈🤷♂️🤦♂️ I hope you have great luck tomorrow on hunting the property !! I will be sure to keep my🤞that you will find great treasures, but 🚫🦷. Happy Swinging,Gin!!😉👍👍
yeah i live on a Roman city and haven't found anything cool for 1.5 months. Same happened in beach hunting, but it seems to come in waves, so after 8 yrs of sporadic beach hunting, i found 4x gold in 5 trips last year. I think maybe the beaches were you are are sanded in ? Happened ehre too, after a storm even the cars' engines were sanded in in the coastal city, meaning the sand hadn't been blown OFF the beach, but rather (on it and beyond). So heavy stuff was lost under the layer of sand and only light stuff like foil and aluminum pulltabs were found. I ditched the heavy sand scoop and use a kiddie shovel now, but it won't work on very wet sand of course. Too heavy to carry around for hours. Would keep it if I found more stuff on the wet part.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a dry spell. It sounds like you live in an amazing place though! Hopefully it will pick up soon for you.🍀. The sand scoop does get heavy, but I use a machine that can hit really deep targets so I kinda need it. Thanks so much for stopping by my channel! 🙂🍀
Yup. Beaches here in North Carolina are slim pickings too this time of year. I did find a couple 50 caliber shell casings and bullets on Holden Beach last week. They renew the sand there by Dragging it from the ocean floor And send it to the beach through large pipes. That's how those shell casings ended up there. They are from World War II training exercises that they held Off the North Carolina coast. I ould show you pictures of them but I'm unable to post it here in comments.
Holden beach is one I haven’t had the chance to visit yet. Maybe I’ll have the chance sometime later in the summer. So many beaches, so little time! Haha I’ve found 50 cals in the desert, but never at the beach so far.🙂
@@LuckyGin quick story .... I was out detecting on the siesta key beach couple days ago. A lady came up to me and said her daughter had lost a gold and diamond bracelet while playing volleyball. She asked if I could use my detector to help find it because it's worth 3000$. Of course I said yes! Took me a couple hours but I found it!! Unreal. To see their faces when I showed them made it all worthwhile!
So right about the FL beaches... they get pounded by all the local detectorists all winter with very few depositors around... once the tourist season starts it gets a lot better. I live near Destin and don't go to the beach after New Years... just not worth it... Parks have been my hunting ground but Spring Break is just around the corner ;)
I’m slowly learning the rhythm of the seasons at different locations. Hopefully next winter I’ll have a better plan of which places are best to go for the season. I’m definitely looking forward to spring! 🌷
Thank you, it’s taken me a while to get the hang of perfecting the swing. It’s slowly becoming second nature. 🙂 I always keep an eye out for sharks teeth and beach glass, but didn’t see a hint of either on this trip.
At least you were out detecting. Beaches were nice, you were the beauty. A lot of the Florida beaches have tractors with a pull type litter scoop that clean a lot of stuff, coins jewelry, cans, tent stakes, etc. would love to find where the dump it. Good try.
You are right Jim, at least I was able to be out enjoying the warm weather and beautiful beach. Grateful to be able to do it for sure. 🙂. If those guys who run the machines were smart, they’d dump the sand through a big sifter! No telling what all they scoop up!
Thank you Barry. I sometimes watch other videos and marvel at what a different experience they seem to have. One things for sure, if you ever see me pulling out a whopper then you know it’s the real deal. It will have to happen at some point! 😂🙂🍀
Another great video. I love going to the beach. Myrtle Beach not too far from East Tennessee so we go there once or twice a year. And Destin/Ft. Walton Beach too. I mainly hunt in the water looking for jewelry. With a big civil war hunt in March and November that I always go to I try to take a beach vacation in between. My brother just moved to Florida last year so I may be making more trips there...lol
Thanks Randy. You know, I have never been to Destin/Ft. Walton. I was debating on going there instead of the beaches in this video. I’m definitely going to keep my beach trips on the gulf side for the next few months, so I’ll probably end up there soon. Any great restaurant recommendations for me while I’m there?
@@LuckyGin you have to eat at McGuire's Irish Pub. That place seats several hundred people and there is always a wait. If you go in summer get there about 4 or 430. You still may have an hour wait but well worth it. You can Google it.
We try to keep the beach areas cleaned up (of all sorts of sharp objects.. etc.), Gin. Kind of detectorists' contribution to/for the general public. HOWEVER, think SPRING BREAK (March thru early April), Gin... Locals tend NOT to detect at that time, because of the visitors (always seems to be an exception or two, tho...). During "tourists" seasons, we try to leave the beach areas alone ... and let everyone enjoy what we enjoy year-round. Might want to rethink staying away til summer... just sayin'. All the best, always love your vids...
You could definitely safely run barefoot on these beaches, unlike many I visit. That’s interesting about spring break; I would have thought the detectorists would have been out before dawn everyday during spring break. I’d heard it was so competitive that some people go out at midnight.😳. I’m not sure when I’ll go back. I’ve got a ton of travel plans for the year, but none that take me back to Florida so far. I appreciate you stopping by and sharing your insights. 🤗🍀
Hello Gin, I hit those north beaches too, not really much there even after a storm. I know everybody on here has advice to give you I'm not going to do that but I'll tell you I detect the east coast all over.. but for quick jewelry and coins and things Daytona usually works good by the pier definitely a low tide.. right after vents like well for instance bike week and spring break etc... Anyway believe it or not I was going to suggest the west side.. Clearwater Beach, st pete right on down..there's lots of hotels lots of vacationers and they're always loosing stuff....I do pretty good over there on a regular basis when I go. Not trying to send you on some wild goose chase. I just thought I would drop that to you. I've been watching for a while now and you're doing really good. You spend a lot of time out there.. it's going to happen! Get that booty! 🏴☠️
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights. Not being from the area, I’m learning about the beaches/seasons the hard way - from experience. Lol. I really appreciate the suggestions and will definitely give those beaches a try. Most of all, thank you for the good vibes and encouragement.💖🤗🍀
You are not kidding Andrew! I can’t believe how many detectorists there are in Florida! I knew that Daytona is hunted to death, but was hoping further north might not be so bad. I was definitely wrong about that! Lol
