@jacquelinemilom4164
@jacquelinemilom4164 3 месяца назад
That makes sense but he died because he dies in the original. Cruel intentions is a modern update of dangerous liaisons. Or the French title as it was a French book. He dies in a duel with Ronald’s counterpart in the original which is the ‘Annette’ character’s husband I believe. Anyways they stuck to most of the major plot points just adapting it to modern teen drama. I admit they could’ve done viscount de valmont’s death better when killing off Sebastian. People who don’t realize it’s a modern retelling will think him dying made no sense here especially since the car thing. I did like they kept the fight part between the two men. But the how he dies part definitely could’ve been written better.

Ronald must have thought, right before the time of altercation, that Sebastian was the mastermind behind everything. He must have thought Sebastian have leaked information to Mrs. Caldwell about the fact he had written love letters to Cecille. Ronald thought Sebastian did this so that Sebastian could blackmail Cecille into having sexual activity with Sebastian. Only after Sebastian's death did Ronald realize that Sebastian was just a tool that Kathryn used to hurt Cecille.

Annette did not even flush the toilet. She knew Kathryn would be in the bathroom. I believe Annette was spying on Kathryn. She knew Kathryn would be there at that time. Before she approached Kathryn, she was debating whether to allow Cecille and others to go through with the plan to expose Kathryn. When Kathryn deceitfully questioned her on whether she knew Sebastian, she knew that Kathryn was not at all repentant and remorseful for her step-brother's death. Kathryn's deceit was the "final nail in the coffin" for Annette. She then decided to go forward with the plan to expose Kathryn. If that question was not the "final nail in the coffin", then certainly when Annette cited the need to turn to Jesus in such agonizing times and Kathryn replied with such indifference was the "final nail" for Annette. Annette knew that if Kathryn really followed Jesus, Kathryn's reply would have been highly ample, animated, and robust. Annette knew that Kathryn would have said something to the effect that "Jesus will get her and her family through this" in a passionate manner. The beating of Sebastian by Ronald was only the secondary objective of Kathryn. Kathryn's main objective in setting up that altercation was to expose Sebastian for his act of Pedophilia against Cecille. She knew the reason for that altercation would have to be explained to the police. That reason was the commission of pedophilia against Cecille by Sebastian that Ronald totally opposed.

Kathryn wanted Ronald to get fired by Mrs. Caldwell so that Cecille would come to the Valmont household to pick up Ronald's letter from Sebastian. She knew that with Ronald gone, Cecille would have no qualms about being sexualized by Sebastian in order to provide good sexual output to Ronald. Kathryn had convinced Cecille of the preceding. If Ronald was still Cecille's music teacher, obviously there would be no contact between Cecille and Sebastian. Kathryn knew all this. In the end, Ronald thought it was Sebastian who got him fired so that Sebastian could have sexual activity with Cecille. Ronald did not realize until after Sebastian's death that Kathryn was also involved in this plot against Ronald. After all, they both gave Ronald a love letter that they claimed that Cecille had written to Ronald. Because they gave that letter to him right after he had gotten fired as a cello teacher, he eventually realized that letter was a fabrication. He initially blamed Sebastian as he finally concluded all this was done so that Sebastian could have sexual activity with Cecille. Ronald knew that Cecille would never approach Sebastian if he was still Cecille's cello instructor. He came to this conclusion right after Kathryn had told that Sebastian had sexual activity with Cecille. It finally dawned on Ronald, after the death of Sebastian, that Kathryn was the mastermind of all this.

I never understood what Kathryn meant when she implied that Sebastian caved into peer pressure. He died saving Annette's life. Was Kathryn implying that Sebastian's fight with Ronald was motivated by peer pressure? I would have liked to know the final spin that was put on that narrative. After all, there was no way the actual narrative that explained that fist fight would have been allowed to come out. The truth would have incriminated Kathryn. She lied to Ronald about Sebastian hitting her. While she did tell Ronald the truth about Sebastian having s*x with Ronald's GF Cecille, she neglected to mention to Ronald that it was her idea for Sebastian to have such contact with Cecille. As cited already, Kathryn must have spinned this narrative to state that Sebastian had sexual activity with Cecille without Kathryn knowing about it beforehand. The fight between Ronald and Sebastian must have been explained as Ronald fighting over Cecille's honour while clearly stating that Ronald and Cecille had no contact with each other after Cecille's prohibited such contact. Ronald and Cecille must have decided to go along with that embellished narrative so that Ronald would not implicated by Kathryn's accusations against him. He was 18 and Black. While there was no proof that he had s*x with Cecille, he was warned to stay from Cecille by Cecille's mother and that would carry legal and perhaps violent consequences. Ronald already earlier stated in the literal sense that Cecille's mother would have him shot if he went anywhere near Cecille and their house. Additionally in all probability Kathryn videotaped her sexual encounter with Ronald. She knew that if Ronald ever decided to tell the truth about her setting him up to fight Sebastian (a fight that indirectly led to Sebastian's death), she would have the means to blackmail him and get his silence and his co-operation. After all, while he was 18 she was only 17 and also due the fact he is Black, he definitely would be incriminated in a statutory rape case. The legal authorities in the Upper East Side would not allow that to slide.
