In the 1930s’Shanghai, that is lively, bustlingd paradise, but also the factions of Chinese and foreign forces bloody battlefield. A girl Rong Jinxiu (Joe Chen) Who lives in Zhenjiang may never thought she would be in this famous city in China and abroad staged a series of scores of resentment story. But the catastrophe of the family pushed her there. In Shanghai, Jinxiu get relief from Zuo Zhen (Huang Xiaoming). Zuo Zhen and Shanghai’s famous person Xiang Hanchuan (Xie Junhao), Xiang Yingdong (Qiao Renliang) two brothers sworn, at this time, Jinxiu in the Lion Grove Hotel met her sister who was apart with her for many years Yin Mingzhu (Lu Jiarong). Zuo Zhen and Rong Jinxiu’s fate connect together, but the girl because of misunderstanding fall in love with Xiang Yingdong, but Xiang Yingdong has indefinable emotion to his brother’s woman Mingzhu.

Joe Chen is a phenomenal actress. Her role in this movie is portrayed as an innocent and trustworthy individual as she has been loved and sheltered by her parents.

Joe Chen did a great job as Rong Jin Xu. Seeing her family to get killed before one's own eyes and yet staying calm is really commendable. The introductory scene of Huang Xiao Ming as Zuo Zhen is awesome. His fighting skills are awesome. Looking forward to their chemistry along with the development of the story.

Just finished watching this movie, it was fabulous. I am a great fan of Joe chen and huang Xiaoming. Love them both. I am crazy about Huang watching Alliance now. Handsome and talented actor. I love that all episodes are ready and don't have to wait like some others to be uploaded

Huang Xiaoming (Zuo Zhen) was about 36 when he filmed this in 2015, as he is almost 43 now in Sept 2020. He is also a singer, singing a range of OST songs for both film and TV series. And released albums. He also sings the opening theme song "Fate".

Thank you🙏🏼 CN DRAMA.... For downloading this series!. I really enjoyed watching " Cruel Romance !" and recommend this series to my co-workers. Love the main characters Joe Chen and especially Huang Xiaomang. When Huang took off his shirt I was like " Good Lord wheres the baby oil!" 😂😂😂 this guy is totally ripped. Joe Chens character is so naive and there were time I started to get a bit irritated. The very last episode missed a lot of points as far as " what happened to the watch?" also, what happened to the other characters it seems like they all got X- out. Huang is such a talented actor and so is his wife Angelababy. Joe Chen played her role to the T. Wish there was a part 2 to this series.

Everybody is sayin that the female lead is annoying and stupid and I agree. To some extent, she is tho. But that's how her character is. She is innocent and naive. She has been protrcted throughout her life.

Old is a relative term, Tally☺..If, let's say, the viewer of this drama is 13 yrs. old, then Joe Chen and Ku-hye may certainly seem 'old' to a teen viewer. I am not a teen, so 'Old'--to me--would be a senior citizen, somewhere nearer 80 yrs. than 60 years! lol... I also consider the actors/actresses themselves. I expect they would likely just prefer ones not to tie their acting talent and on-screen charisma with old or age. I know I wouldn't like that myself, nor would anyone whether they are still in school or not.. Real talent is ageless and I can agree with that.
