About Cruel Summer:
From executive producer Jessica Biel (“The Sinner”), “Cruel Summer” is a psychological thriller that follows two young women: Kate Wallis, the popular girl with a charmed life who one day goes missing, and Jeanette Turner, the nerdy wannabe who is accused of being connected to Kate’s disappearance. All signs point to Jeanette’s guilt, but is Kate really who she seems to be? Set over three summers and told through shifting points of view, the series challenges perception and follows how one girl can go from being a sweet outlier to the most despised person in America. Precisely my thoughts! While I feel for both Kate and Jeanette, with each episode I root for Jeanette a little bit more, though that might all change in the last few episodes. She's definitely a Gryffindor, brave, daring and courageous!

I find it interesting that even before Kate was kidnapped, Jamie was never exactly the best boyfriend. He ruined her birthday by getting drunk, never really listened to her, and wanted them to settle down after school, which Kate is reluctant to do so.

Exactly. I don't know why Kate is upset over Jennette being with her bf and her friends. Clearly she didn't feel loved or supported by either parties so she fled to Martin. Her bf and her friends were fake asf.

Honestly, he is practically the most chaotic person in this show Like Everything is his fault , from ruining my man relationship (Vince) to causing Kate to run away from home (like who get drunk at the mall and also, did you even know Joy, like it's obvious she would want Kate home before 7 pm)

I'm proud of Jeanette for standing her ground against Jamie, and not forgiving him THAT easily for punching her, cheating on Kate with her, and his tremendous lies. I wonder why he's continuing to stalk her?

I don't know I thought it was really pathetic the way she made out with him & tried to talk him into staying with her like right after he hit her. She also got mad at her dad & brother for getting in his face about it. The reaction she has here is how she should've acted in the first place so it seems weird to me.

That's why I like Jeanette better in 95, she's not naive and so desperate to be liked (like in 93, 94) Jeanette from 95 would have never kissed Jamie and tried to get Jamie back with him after he hit her and insulted her and She wouldn't have been mad at her brother and dad for trying to protect her. After everything she's been through she's not the same person she was then, she stronger in 95.

@@lilmama121 well said. She knows what Jamie is like. She fawned over him and made him feel happy and put his needs ahead of hers. Yet he couldn't care less. She thought he was a good person but after punching her she realized that Jamie never gave a shit about her. She loved him but he never loved her. Heartbreaking but that is the truth. She is lucky to have a great dad and a great brother who stuck by her through thick and thin. Shitty mother though.

I don't know if he ever loved either of them. He ran to Jennette when Kate was missing, got drunk during Kate's birthday do, punched Jennette and then tried to gaslight Kate. He may b flawed and Jennette may b able to forgive him coz he is cute but he is Hella toxic and is only thinking about himself. He says that he punched Jennette coz he believed Kate but when Kate came back he gaslighted her coz of Kate finding out about him kissing Jennette. He just wants all the attention but not the work that needs to be put in when it comes to a relationship.

I don’t think Kate is lying. I think that the events of the traumatic situation might have altered the truth. Obviously we knew that she want to Martin, she was dealing with a lot at home and her crush plus the fact that she trusted him pushed her that way. I don’t think Janette is lying either, I don’t think she saw Kate and maybe Kate never saw her but thought she did. Either way Jamie is a horrible boyfriend.

There's no excuse for a man to raise his hand to a woman period. There is no explaining how he could Physically and emotionally hurt her, if he ever loved her. I'm glad Jeanette didn't just forgive Jamie easily like she would have in 94. I like that she's less naive than stands up for herself in more in 95. It's like Jeannette's mom just wants her to lay down and let Kate run her into the ground instead of fighting back, just because Kate's a kidnap victim. She even left when Jeanette needed her the most. I definitely like Jeanette in 95 the best, she doesn't take peoples shit

I don't know if I want them back together (though they act very sweet together especially in 93' before they dated) but they were definitely better suited for one another than Kate and him. And I feel bad for Jamie. He did terrible things but he knows he was wrong and he apologizes. This is more than so many characters in teen shows do (more than most people do in reality too). He's a great character, very nuanced. He's not just a pretty boy but he has moments of such sincerity which is then undercut with him gaslighting Kate and punching Jeanette or his drinking. I like seeing his development in the 95 scenes, it's just awesome!

@@jackierosas9593 I feel bad for him too. He basically got told the girl he was truly in love with was a actually a monster and schemed to get in his life to take over kates. Imagine dealing with that guilt and also dealing with the fact he still loves her even when everything about it says he shouldn't. How to you process that. He clearly hasn't dealt with it well either.
