What a lovely old ship that will be easily driven with her nice lines and hull shape, a very able and safe sea boat even with a little extra weight high up or making a hard turn with 20ft of draught, compared to modern blocks of flats built on barge hulls with no draught and all top weight and hamper. In my opinion one of the most beautiful ships ever built in Denmark. They changed the aft deck. Made it bigger with a pool. The proportions are not perfect.

Everything I heard about QM2 being the last liner was a lie. Look at this beauty go. One of the last of a near-extinct species. So glad she's being saved. 😍🔥👍

We were on board this cruise. No problems wtih these swells whatsover. The best thing about the cruise was the food with Indian and Portugese chefs :-)

Now thats a cruise ship! One I would actually go on. Not these Princesses or Carnivals that are nothing but floating sardine cans :-/ Small crew, only a handful of passengers...PERFECT!! And it actually looks like a ship!

I totally agree with you. Built as an ocean liner in the early 1960:s when they still could design beautiful ships. And many beautiful ships have been "destroyed" by adding ugly decks on top of them like the former ocean liner MS Stockholm (1948). This ship still sails as MV Astoria but she looks totally different now, but still a lot better than those modern floating towns with barge-like hulls.

You may have missed out. I sailed twice on this epic lady and her sea legs were amazing. There was a reason old ships had a sheer. Bar non, this ship in the early 2000's served the finest food afloat until the owners went belly up. You'll never see ships like this anymore 😥😥😪😪😓😓 The cigar lounge , the free pours, the midnight mini burgers, jacket and tie formals......, the barman who remembered your pre breakfast ''special''

@@qe2836 They did that with Funchal too. To find space for a big pool, the whole aft deck was rebuilt 20 years ago. It spoiled the beautiful proportions.

Sadly the classic Funchal has been laid-up in Lisbon for several years with little hope of re-activation. The interiors were completely re-built a few years ago to bring her up to the latest SOLAS regulations but she could not compete w/the new megaships and huge cruise lines today.

Sadly today noone want to rock about on the waves. Heard it was not stable for modern cruisers. She is going to be transformed to a 5 star Hotel docked in Lisbon

Con Funchal fuimos a n/ primer crucero. Experencia maravillosa! Luego hemos ido con Costa que nos a gustado con cabinas bonitas etc. Iremos por 3a vez al Caraibe en Enero.
