Cruising Alaska's Inside Passage 2023 | Port Day in Juneau | Mendenhall Glacier & Nugget Falls Fun!!

(Part Five) In today's video it's the day that we have been waiting for during this Alaskan cruise that shows the true beauty of this part of the planet. The morning starts off at 6:00am as we wake up to one of the most spectacular views that we have ever seen, which is the Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier! After taking in all of the beautiful scenery it's time for breakfast inside of the main dining room. A few hours later it's time for our next port of call in Juneau, Alaska. Our shore excursion was canceled due to inclement weather but I was able to book the blue bus glacier express that provides round trip to the Mendenhall Glacier & Nugget Falls that includes a two mile hike, narration and the visitor center. Next, after getting back to the port it's time for dinner at The Hangar on the Wharf which was delicious! Finally, we make it back on the ship but all of our energy is gone due to all of the activity that we have been doing over the course of the last few days so, we enjoy more of the balcony and the breathtaking scenery before calling it a night. So glad you enjoyed Juneau, when I moved here 16 years ago the Glacier was almost next to Nugget falls. My office faces the ships and the front of the Quantum took up most of my window today. Just some notes on the weather, one thing I tell folks is that Jan or June it can be 40 and raining that is just the way it goes most of the time. Our fall starts mid Aug most years and it gets colder, the winds switch and I have seen ships sitting out there getting snowed on in Sept. July and early Aug are good, the salmon run starts which really increases your chances of seeing bear. It's great to see my town thorough fresh eyes, thank you!

Alaska is gorgeous. Those mountains with the trees are majestic. I wonder if the greenish blue water is from the glacier melting. There was a clear difference in the color of the water near Juneau. I’m grateful you’re taking me to these beautiful scenic places that I’ll never be able to visit.

Hey! I live here in Alaska. For the most part, yes the water is that color due to the glacier. More specifically, it’s from the silt that comes from the glacier and the way the light is absorbed. 😊

We cruised Alaska on Princess the second week of August one year. The weather then was much less rainy than earlier in the season and in September. I recommend you choose a cruise line for your return to Alaska that has a permit for Glacier Bay National Park. I believe Princess and Holland America are the only with large ships (not the smaller 100s of passenger types) to have the permits. We had 2 glacier days on our cruise-stunning, amazing scenery! I would return in a heartbeat. Loving your videos as usual 💚

Another great vlog Devin, the scenery is amazing ! Bianca looks like she is really enjoying herself ! I prefer eating in the dinning room as I really can’t stand buffet food ! The eggs Benedict didn’t look so good , the taco looked yummy. I love that she tries different food ! Enjoy your relaxing day ! I can’t wait for Canada !

I’ve been on 3 Alaska cruises since I live on the west coast. Might I suggest Glacier Bay for scenic cruising! One word, it’s “MAGICAL.” Although I think only Princess, NCL and Holland America only are allowed there. Still definitely worth checking out. I’m going again in August 2024!

We went on Ovation to Alaska last year in August. Beautiful warm weather and sites! They had said earlier season cruises had issues with the ice also and had to turn around. No matter what though it's absolutely beautiful either way!! Love your videos and positive vibes!!

@stephenleone2375 the Temps we had were in the 70s for a high and even the lowest wasn't bad. It was sunny pretty much the entire trip. My wife was a little disappointed it wasn't a little cooler cause that's what we packed for. Lol

I was in Mendenhall last year in May and it was much larger then, extending down on to the rocks by the water. Wow, what a difference a month makes!

nice video, Dev. If you go back to Alaska, the end of July is a great time to visit. It's much warmer (or much less cold), not as rainy (though yes it's rainy and you need to bring really good rain gear including rain pants, not just a rain jacket). Also at the end of July, the salmon are running!

My sister lives about a 2 mile walk from Mendenhall glacier. I was there for my niece’s graduation at the end of May and walked down to the glacier and out to Nugget Falls a few times. One of my favorite places on earth. Glad you got to experience it

My husband and I did an Alaskan cruise (our first ever) on the Royal Caribbean "Radiance of the Seas " around 2003. We loved it!! The Hubbard Glacier was pure heaven and the itinerary was great! We did so much on that cruise and cruising became our planned vacation time. Looking at your vlog, I am so ready to revisit Alaska. I am so glad we did way back with many many happy memories. Great trip! We took RCCL to Alaska twenty years ago In late September . We had some weather also and the captain had to adjust, but it was still amazing! Loved going up the Inside Passage. And those waterfalls in Juneau were spectacular. So beautiful. ❤. Thanks for sharing!

Dev and Bianca omg first of the music you have been choosing for the scenic scenes is great!!! Just straight serenity!!! The views are great the glaciers, the falls, and mountains just wow!!! Unloading group would have been better to get off the ship thats something they need to bring back like you said!!!
