It will depend on how busy they are at the port and onboard. In our experience we usually get onboard before the official time (15-30 minutes or so) but maybe we have just been lucky. On our next cruise our check-in time is 11:30 AM but that is in Athens so it might be different than sailing out of the USA.

$5; that is more than enough.

We usually give a couple of dollars per bag.
