411 gear is a good choice as long as you have the power to pull it which you said it will have, great to see a fine replica of the cars we all loved , keep up the good work
My grandmother had a Fair lane that she gave to my father. After seeing this video and looking g at some pics online. I am 90% sure that it was a 66. Thanks for sharing!
there was an old 1967 fairlane commercial where it were going up and down flights of stairs and jumping hills. Ford was showing how durablethe fairlane was
nice car mine is a candy apple red 66 500 took out the 289 and dumped a 390 in 4spd withy a 9 in rear that i put 352s in cruises nice at 70 mph and still does an awesome burnout but if i did it again i would swap the 390 for a coyote and use that fe for a boat anchor stock is sweet but modern is sweeter
reason being is because i spent 11 grand building up my 390 and my buddy with his 2012 f-150 truck all stock beat me by 3 car lenghths four different times wtf@@cs92lx
Personally if you are adding a big cubic inch small block with an auto I would recommend a 3.70 or 3.89 gears in a 9 inch rear but here is the kicker if you don't want to twist the unibody it needs subframe connectors so you need to consider the power and torque levels and how much you want to keep it original 😄👍🏻very nice Fairlane
You are absolutely right. Those are my original 2 choices for rear gears as well I'm definitely doing subframe connectors. And probably some Stut tower reinforcement also.
Speaking of add up cubic inches on that engine block , I would leave 289 as is , I like 289 a lot beside 390 ..: if you want to upgrade the power of 289 , simply put in upgraded headers to go with 4 barrel carb and upgraded manifold then it may work better .. again, I will stick with 289 if I were you …
I would go with the gear you feel comfortable with cruising with. Too nice of an original car to try to turn into a race car. Are you sticking with the stock 8" rear, or upgrading to the 9" like the GT's/GTA's had?
sweet 66 bro. in my eyes the 66 is bad as it gets. I would sport it every day here in Germany. I have had my order for my 23 Maverick and don't expect it for a while. stop being picky your 66 is great no one is going to see the things you point out
