In the 80's I saw one i(black version) in a London music tech shop called Chase run by a Seik gentleman. Does anyone remember that? I also saw 2 wings of the now incredibly rare & expensive ARP 2500 modular for £1000 each. I know in the 80's that was a fair bit but still very cheap compared to now.
I saw this at the Frankfurt Musik Messe in the 80s. By itself. No Crumar reps, not part of any larger presentation! Al alone, and looking so cool. . . . I coveted this synth in my heart, but the dollar was in decline; I was poor-- And again this beautiful synth was a sort of standalone display-- Pre-internet, and only two music stores in all of Frankfurt! (One managed by an irritable Russian, the other a glorified organ shop less irritable but also less knowledgeable.)
Crumar and Siel are my two favourite synth companies of the 80s. But sadly very unreliable, my Opera 6 needed more service than I was able to play it. But they still were beautiful sounding instruments.
Yeah Italian instruments are up to their reputation :-) Crumar was better quality than Siel. This rack is actually very well built. You can feel even the metal thickness of the case is more than the one Siel used. I own a Opera 6. They are quite reliable if you watch out for battery leakage. But if it leaked than it’s very difficult to repair and stop it from spreading even after repair.
