The best gambit declined variant for black is to respond with d5 to f4. If you are planning to play the Vienna you MUST know this line (Its the main line). If the black player does play d5, the best option for white is to play fxe5 forcing black to do Nxe4, against which white has several moves. Since d5 is the best move, the game continues in favour of the black side.
I realized after I did the video that I didn’t cover d5 which is main line. 😅 But out of all my vienna games ive had maybe 2% of them that were the main line. But after fxe5 and nxe4, qf3 is easiest. But nf3 has some very fun lines too. However, i wouldn’t say that it’s exactly favoring black
That is completely up to you! It’s very rare for the Vienna to be played at master level, but I believe it can still take us higher than 1200. But if you enjoy playing the Vienna then keep playing it! ❤️
