Hello Kieth, I just wanted to say thank you for your time putting together a series like this and giving your time like you have done. I'm 54 and just recently retired. Now I have time to take a good look at RU-vid to find videos of things that I've always wanted to do. In the real world I have been a Fire Marshal/Fire Inspector and worked for a school system providing Life Safety and Health inspections along with Fire and Building Inspections. Not a job that I want to do now that I'm retired. I used to always hang out in our machinist shop always getting in the way I'm sure. I found your videos recently on the third video of this Crusher Series and now I'm just fascinated. I have tons of tools, I used to build dirt bike engines, but never had a lathe but I sure wish I did. I'm sure that they are cost prohibitive unless you have a business like yours but I can still dream. I'm so sorry to ramble and everyone else, so sorry to take up your time. Thanks for all your comments also, you fellas sound like amazing guys. Thank you all and Kieth, thanks again for a great job of camera work, editing and the lot! I'm in Florida but with I was closer to you to just shake your hand... Buddy

Buddy Martin, I'm in the same boat; in '14 I retired after 20 yrs military now I'm 52, I'll watch hours of Abom79, OxTools, Weld.com, Keith Fenner & Rucker, etc,... I'm saving to get a welder and later I'll be buying a lathe and mill (small to start) & maybe even put some videos up on RU-vid? Good luck on your endeavor!

This was a great series to watch! Got to see a lot of interesting tricks you use, like how you compare ID measures from the rod inside mikes to your outside mikes; use of old style bent spring calipers too; the adjustment of the bit projection for line boring, etc. I am also thankful that you show the problems and how you go about finding a solution. The quality of your filming is great. Thanks!!!! Daniel

Great series. I'm too old to start a new career but wish I had of considered machining 40 years ago. Before I started watching your videos I only had a slight idea of how a lathe operated and can't believe how much knowledge I've gained, the detail you show and the way you show how it's done is exceptional. Many thanks and waiting for more.

Hey Keith. I just stumbled across your website here on YT today and I have to tell you how grateful I am that YT has designed their system so that I can go back and watch your previous video installments. I was a heavy construction labourer for 23 years and a safety consultant-inspector for the past 15. Working in tunnels. bridges, highrise forming and mining makes me very grateful when I see a person create something that takes the stress and the "seriously heavy and difficult" work from the workers body to a technological and mechanical level. I left the tunnels due to a bad back, finding out a week after resigning from my job, that the vertebrae in my spine were crushed and bent all outa shape. All full of arthritis, like so many others. I have vibration disease in my finger tips, (numb due to bad circulation) from busting up concrete with Jackhammers, chipping guns, hammer and chisels, bigger hammers and chisels. Hell I think we were using 120 pounders (jackhammers) at one point, way back when. I don't write this to say, "poor me, poor me", I write this as a sort of Thank You for all of the folks who won't have to bust up their bodies, (as much) when working with concrete or rock mining. "I see this in many sizes used in the mining industry. Potential is endless. Tools like this not only cut down worker injuries, some life long, they also save companies millions on injury related costs, not to mention the incredible cost to the health care systems. All these guys are right. This tool is very cool and all the compliments are spot on, but it is also so much more than many may not see and I wanted to relay that to you. Also, I have to say that this "Concrete Buster" is soooo cool man. This is what God intended us to do with our brains and hands. To create something that combines technology with art. Lets face it, only an artist could imagine, design and ultimately create this amazing tool from a block steel. You are one incredibly skilled person. My Grandfather was a machinist who built the parts of our Canadian battle ships such as the Haida and the very first power plants across Canada, with these same tools you are using. I was always and still am amazed at the "thousandth of an inch" tolerances and measurements. I hope I see this amazing feat of engineering on my job sites real soon. Thanks from all of the guys, who won't have a sore back one day. Good Luck !!!

That was some big honkin pieces of steel there. Having pulled and installed implements on many pieces of equipment, I sure hope these boys are on their A game. Thats some tight fitting stuff. Lots of grease wood blocks and sledge hammers. Once installed though, that snug fit should run like a dream for much longer than any factory pins. This was a great series of videos Keith. Watching huge hunks of steel like machined down to the thousandths is really amazing. That old lathe is a real treasure too. Thanks for displaying your skill, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Can't wait to see those parts in action.

Great job Keith, I enjoyed this whole series as well learned a few new tricks of the trade lol. I actually got my girlfriend to watch a little too, explaining what you were doing to her so she could see the type of stuff I do at work. Even brought out my micrometers to show her how the are used lol. I always enjoy your projects and look forward to the next one. Keep up the good work. Thanks, Ian Little

That looks like a lovely piece of work Keith, your customer should be really pleased. In the past when I have made arbours or what ever you like to call stubs held in the three jaw, I treat them like split collets and mark them with a centre pop adjacent to the number one jaw, at least then when re-chucking them, one stands a fair chance of getting near to concentricity.

Great project Keith. I watched the last part while waking up Saturday morning with a big coffee in hand, what could be better. Something that I think would really improve your video series is a short introduction to what you're making. A quick drawing or a photo showing where the parts you're making fit (and what they do) into the bigger piece of equipment. I think it would literally require just one or two minutes of explanation. Anyway, thanks for another great series, I look forward to the next.

Hello Keith, Just to say a huge thank you four the many hours of video made to entertain and educate those that have their own shops and any that are wanting to get into engineering. Wow, this is just a tiny piece of the whole jaw assembly, thou see how much hard engineering it takes to give a working jaw. Congrats on your constantly trying new innovations to make this even possible on a machine such as yours. I found these video’s in total to be enthralling though even I, a well trod ambassador of ‘VIEWING’ had to watch these in two viewings! I am also into all ‘Things Engineering’ though as I have been an invalid for 25 years, and am still angry with myself I never collected my personal 0-1" Micrometer as I had to leave work rather urgently because I starting to have Seizures. I just wish I had them now, even though the projects I do are not looked upon as ‘word’ by others I still have to get small personal jobs finished for myself and find ways to measure in other ways, argh ! Thank you once again your videos are wonderful and I would love to make some but finances in my latter years are just not there. Oh well. . . Take care mrbluenun

Awesome assembly at the end, artwork really. The fit on that size of material is a wonder to behold. Again, again, it is delightful to watch you work, and your running commentary is priceless. I (and no doubt most - I would say "all" - of your viewers) learn a lot from your videographic recording of your fine work. Thanks for sharing, Keith. I'm happy I have access to your work and attitudes towards that work; RU-vid makes it possible. Who knew when we were kids that it wasn't science fiction after all, but the adumbration of global, instantaneous communication for real. Wow! We are all blessed. I think somehow that your work (and those presenting their work like you do) contributes to the promotion of world unity in some small but important way. Sharing what we know with everyone who wishes to take advantage has got to prove that we all can benefit by helping one another. Ok, I got a little philosophical when the intention was to compliment you, so . . . my compliments!
