The mother doesn't even know to hug her. You can see the beautiful wee girl is happy before ear piercing, then everything changes. So cruel and unnecessary

Actually, it’s awesome that he cleans the babies entire ear, as well as the skin surrounding the ear. Just cleaning the earlobe isn’t enough. Also, he almost never cleans the inside of the ear quite that much, which leads me to believe she probably had some kind of ear wax, gunk, or dirt in her ear.
