Cryorig C7 Cu + be quiet! Pure Wings 2 92mm PWM BL045 (25mm thick) + J-Hack's 3d printed 92mm fan adapter + Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal grease paste. This fan is quieter than the noctua and completely silent even at 100% fan speed unlike the noctua's which are not when pushed hard. Cooling a stock i5 8600 under stress tests my temps are 2°C lower compared to the stock Cryorig fan and my system is dead quiet. The default settings of my MSI motherboard bios fan curve profile will keep a Croyrig fan noise tolerable during gaming but at the cost of unnecessary high cpu temps. With the be quiet! fan I can set the fan curve to ramp up way sooner and it keep my cpu a lot cooler across the board and my ears happier. My fan curve is set at [(50%@35°C)(68%@48°C)(85%@60°C)(100%@70°C)]. Can't wait for the Ghost S1 rewiew!

Really like my C7 Cu in my home entertainment PC. I'm only running an i5-4590 in it, but it did noticeably drop the average temps on it, and the fan runs quieter because the average temp is lower (not that I can hear it from 10 feet away with movies or games running anyway). Since I'm using the Geeek A40, which has a side by side design and the GPU is right up against the back of the CPU socket, it actually also reduced temps on the GPU a bit. I didn't do exhaustive testing, just wanted to see if there was any difference. One thing I could have done to show better was lock the fans at the same speed instead of using the stock fan curves, but that's not how I was going to use it, so... Going off of peak temps instead of keeping an eye on what the actual top sustained temp was might also not have been the best, but oh well. Multiple consecutive runs of the Rise of the Tomb Raider benchmark with both the C7 and C7 Cu, same conditions. I didn't go crazy with heavier workloads since this is just a media streaming and gaming PC, I just wanted to see if there was a difference with its regular workload. All fan settings were stock. C7: CPU min 29c - CPU peak 52c C7 Cu: CPU min 26c - CPU peak 49c C7: GPU min 41c - GPU peak 71c C7 Cu: GPU min 37c - GPU peak 69c C7: CPU peak fan speed 1695 RPM C7 Cu: CPU peak fan speed 1537 RPM C7: GPU peak fan speed 1566 RPM C7 Cu: GPU peak fan speed 1505 RPM

Have you tried installing the Noctua NH-L9x65 into the Node 202? I currently have the Cryorig C7 and as you mentioned, it sounds like the Falcon 9 when the CPU has moderate to high loads. @Charlemagne89 5 лет назад
Yeah, in my Dan A4 the C7 Cu was simply too loud. Saw some guys on r/sffpc who did a noctua fan w/ zip-tie mod to their C7's and then did it to my rig. I think its the best solution we have for a compromise between heat and noise in a Dan A4 since you just don't have much room to play with. Works great, if a little jank.
@IanSmithKSP
@IanSmithKSP 3 года назад
I'm curious what your results would be mushing a Noctua 90mm fan onto that copper heatsink. I've tried swapping the fan myself on the regular C7. It's actually really easy to thread two loops of zip ties through the cooler and fan mounting holes. Performance is much better with much less noise. I'd imagine that copper cooler + new fan + Kryonaut might be the ultimate low profile cooler.

The thing is, copped absorbs heat better, aluminium dissipates it faster. So a aluminium cooler with a copper base and pipes is probably the best option, especially with these low profile units. A 2-3C difference just isn't worth a $20-$30 price difference.
