Distant scenery, like mountains in the backdrop looks much better in the remaster. Everything else looks better in the original, making me wonder why it's called a remaster.
@@GuitarSouDX 100%, the remaster is a shameless cashgrab. They could have at least updated the original on steam so that it would run better on modern systems like they did for the origin version, but naah, fu ck you, give me 30 euro for a game that you already own, but worse.
Awesome comparison. If I had to choose I would still take the original Crysis. Both look excellent but the original has the right lighting, colour and contrast to me. Pretty much down to a personal preference than anything objective though.
The devs from the original used real life photos as reference to make Crysis 1 as photorealistic as possible and the result is awesome. But the remaster just screwed it up, its so frustrating, they just have to optimize the game performance without changing the original artistic direction.
Crysis graphics comparison between the Remastered (2020) and the Original (2007) on PC. Both recorded in 4K resolution. In this video, I compare the graphics, physics, explosions, cinematics and more. The original Crysis was far better advanced than any game in 2007. Even today, it's incredible how beautiful it look, especially in 4K. The remaster shine on some things but the original feels more real and in my opinion is better overall. I have to note that the characters in the remastered is a big downgrade compare to the original. For a 13 years later remaster, they could have done way better or just simply make a new Crysis game with a completely new engine. What's your opinion? @@BigBoss7777777 Ikr, bro tried to say something profound haha. Of course it's going to be ahead of 2007, that's the minimum year it should be ahead of. XD
crysis1 remastered looks technical better (after few patches), but i like the artstyle in the original more, its more realistic and atmospheric dense. i prefer the original, more realistic "european artstyle" but i can live with the "far cry 1 look" it`s also great. Over all, for one of the best PC games, a lazy and disappointing console port remaster. it even makes me angry. consoles this days are very similar to PC`s, but this idiots choose to take the old xbox360 version for a remaster.
for me, i still choose that original one, remaster it just revamped the overall graphics from the original Crysis... but, it's still can play but need a recommended hardware to play that remastered Crysis... i play that Crysis Remastered before, but i like the original one, still... anywhere, great comparison brother...
Original crysis is much better than Remake graphically and gameplay wise. Simply because original Crysis was made for PC while the remake is made with console version being ported to PC poorly. Also they did not bother fixing repeating ground, water and rock textures in the remaster.
When the remaster could not surpass the original 2007 in the overall picture, it began to require 4090 for the game!!)) Most of the changes began to look sloppy and completely inappropriate! And this is from a company that has been at the forefront of graphic progress! The gaming industry that we all deserve!
They both great. The one on the left is like you just starting gaming and fitting on your budget. The one on the right is when you get enough money to buy the fancy graphics card and processor. Of course the one on the right is better.
If you are looking for opinions on which one to play, here it goes: Console player? Play the remasters PC player? play the original. The 2011 console port is just horrible, so the remaster is literally a upgrade The original 2007 PC version has some advantages for PC users, like modding and being able to play the multiplayer with community fix.
Still have miss feelings about the remaster, if they would’ve used the PC original instead of the chopped down trash console port as a base this remaster should’ve been better.
Anything other than water physics and landscapes look better in the original. It's also less saturated which fits my taste. Games need to be dark when they can.
I feel like the draw distance detail, water physics, shadow and lighting are definitely a step up in the remaster. The more vibrant colour pallete might be down to personal choice. The 8k textures on the suit are sweet too.
absolutely great to see... 2007 was it's time ahead... still This HDR look ist not what a world look like... in comparison is the look much nicer from 2007. All details in remastered are washed out (trees, mountains, stones, grass, fields, clouds) i'm not a fan from the new look. Thanks for the video.
What's amazing in the original is that even though some tech is dated, the game overall still looks and plays amazing. The visual elements altogether feel very very coherent, the nature and colors are great and vibey. C1 is amazingly put together.
In this comparison, I prefer the original a thousand times. There is no way to give that ultra photorealistic look, with technologies that were removed in the remaster, such as debris physics. Too many bad decisions were made in the remaster.
That sunset at the beginning of the landscape section is absolutely stunning, I could legit stand there in the game and it'd be relaxing, why did they change it in the remaster? Also tonight will be my first time playing the first game 😊 (i got the remastered trilogy from GameStop)
The original was made with true love and a eye for art, the team that made it were happy and inspired by the huge Far Cry 1 success and how their Cryengine 1 tech was so acclaimed by gamers. In the other end, the remaster was made by a Crytek in big financial trouble and looking to make a fast profit by remastering Crysis 1 PC, in the faster easier way possible, for the least money possible, so they just converted/ported one of the console versions, that unfortunately not only add a huge color pallet change, also add many effects removed for performance reasons, that cool sunset was one of them.
@@Argoon1981 well that fxckin sucks, but hopefully crysis 4 will be good (if they made enough money) could've sworn 4 was confirmed, but yeah the OG looks so much better and that's wild, nothing is done with passion anymore 😭
original one use "cold" color tone... the remastered version use like farcry 1 color tone. Remastered version trying following nowadays trend with colorful graphic. Original still superior.
This has to be the worst remaster I've ever seen. The original looks so grounded/real and detailed. Even in the shadow, you've got so much detail. The remaster replaced the textures with generic jungle textures and slapped 300% saturation and contrast filter on top. All the effects are so overdone now too (the original could do it too if they wanted, but they wanted realism over showing off). It looks like a generic indie survival game made in Unreal now and everything has this warm glow that bleeds into everything else. Same vibes as the GTA trilogy remaster. Also note that they removed 3rd person animations when you're using the machine gun on cars.
While it's certainly not the best remaster, to say this is the worst seems a bit like an exaggeration. While you're right with some of the changes (I'm not a big fan of the oversaturation either), there are _far_ worse remasters out there. If you want a good laugh, take a look at TMNT Turtles in Time "Re-Shelled", or even the Mafia II "Remaster"
I really don't know what version to play now! I grew up with the original so the differences in the remaster put me off (where is the beatiful orange shade near the beginning of the game!!), but on the other hand the remaster has all the achievements which should be really fun to get
If you played the original, try the remaster. When I made the comparison, I played one mission on the original and then the same mission on the remaster. I did this all the way until the end. It's a good way to experience both games in different ways.
5:02 this whole section of alien ship looks better in the original :X But the remaster at least runs on more than single core and does not crash, so pick your poison I guess
original Crysis graphics is way more better then Remastered version. ground, sand, grass, surrounding environment is way better in original Crysis. In Remastered they make it worse.
still sad they remastered the downgraded console port and not the pc original, but they added the vtol mission from the pc version later, so whyy hopefully in 2030 someone will remaster the pc original with crazy path tracing and great attention to fine detail.
They could have done that, just with a tad more effort and would be the correct thing to do but they realized that porting the Xbox360 version already made on Cryengine 3 was faster, easy money for them. What makes this so sad to me, is that because this inferior "remaster" exist, they now don't care about the original at all. Is the better version for a long shot but Crytek just doesn't care and is letting the original rot. :( Also for PC gamers there's a few fantastic mods that only work with the original.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. By the way, the comparison of Crysis 2 vs Crysis 2 remastered coming out today at 9:00 AM (est) if you're interested. Have a great day!
