i lost over 150 pounds walking and running. This was always my intro song when id put the headphone and grab my ipod, Id say lets go for a run to charlie my golden retirever and wed get to work. Ive cried, ive been angry, ive lost it, and lastly left it all on those city streets I ran in. I was 22 now im 36 and it almost feels all the same without charlie now and my new identity. It seemed like you guys were the bestest of friends and had a really good connection ^^ I actually am in a smaller friends group right now and it’s kinda falling apart two kids left and parted their ways, one kid is seeing if they want to leave or not and we aren’t rlly sure what they are doing anymore, my two friends don’t have the best relationship because one of my friends doesn’t rly like the other friend and the other friend thinks that my friend likes them as a friend and we also added a new member and they are kinda making the group fall apart so I guess you could say Ik how it feels
@@I_like_Warriors It’s slowly falling apart for me, there’s always one friend becoming toxic and we have to ditch them because they get so bad it really corrupts our mental health, it’s happened twice now, and one of our members are showing “signs”

I think this album is a potent throwback for anyone who is old enough to at least have been a teenager when it came out. I remember listening to this album, _In Rainbows_ by Radiohead, and lots of Deerhoof, and Little Dragon. I'm not proud of it but I was also doing a lot of drugs at the time. It was like 2008/2009, I was like 19, living in this apartment building and I had a next-door neighbor who was like 5 years older than me but we became really close friends. He was kind of a shallow rich kid but he was super intelligent and we got along. It was honestly a great period of time in my life. Hardly any responsibility (except for my job) and-even though I was partying way too hard-I have crystal clear memories of all the late nights spent with friends in that apartment, drinking, snorting line after line of coke, chain-smoking cigarettes, and having "super deep and important" conversations (we probably sounded like complete idiots. Anyway, that friend/former neighbor ended up killing himself in 2013. This album always reminds me of him and that period in my life.
I struggle to listen to crystal castles because i listened to them a LOT in 2018 when i was going through severe depression. But i find myself back here trying to numb the pain with music rather than substances

I've always had a few Crystal Castles songs on playlists but I heard this one for the 1st time yesterday while driving. I literally started tearing up. This is one the most beautiful songs I've ever heard! It literally takes me to another place. Like it makes me reminisce on the past, and gives this feeling of comfort that "everything will be ok". I know this band is usually what people listen to during times of sadness or while doing drugs (based on what I've read in many comments). But for me I just listen to their music because it takes you to another universe when you close your eyes and listen to it. And any artist that can successfully do that, is a great one in my book. Another artist that does that for me is Flume. Anyways! I'd also like to note that I can definitely hear Daft Punk influences in this track. Where they keep the beat consistent throughout and just add/subtract layers throughout in a beautiful way. It's unfortunate that there was so many awful truths that came out later on about this duo. But the music is still incredible.
This song feels like running towards something, trying to achieve or prove something to yourself, and that hope is fading with every fucking failed attempt. So, out of emptiness and pure loneliness you decide to self sabotage yourself. You decide to crush your values, hoping for one last time that you will achueve what you long. Of course you dont, and you remain traumatised. This song feels to me like the whole cycle to me: the running, the dispair, the realisation, the dissapointemnt, the crusing, and ultimately, the emptiness
Just discovered this song today. But it does take me back to this time when I was high during college. I don't know what I was thinking going to class like that. Then I went to the yard and sat by a tree to gaze at the clouds. Next thing I know, it's night already. The last thing I remember is that the stairs seemed endless to me, I climbed them up for quite a while despite them being obviously the same everyday stairs. Time felt many times slower. It's irrelevant but I appreciate living that experience.
My kid will never know the crazy shit I did while listening to Crystal Castles. Edit: My son is much older now. After much contemplation, I've decided that it'd be best if he was educated on the effects of drugs. When he's old enough he will know all the crazy shit I've done.

The way this band presented itself when they first came out was unique I don’t think hearing anything like it. Now thinking back there was a lot of great bands coming out during those early 00s mgmt was one that i can’t forget hearing them just really good talent. Total nostalgia once again a time when I was partying and feeling good all the time. 😢
I drank 4 bottles of dxm and when this song came on I was convinced a witch possessed me and she flew me through dimensions where I could see every moment of my life on these TV screens and then as I was coming down I couldn't remember the name of the drug I took despite me knowing it had all the same letters as the rapper dmx. Crazy shit

For years I've had this thing I do where I'll be going through the days and I'll notice that I'm getting a little too low and that a good cry will help me start to feel better (I don't cry easily obviously). So anyway, I'll grab my best headphones, go to a quiet dark room where I'm alone, listen to Magic Spells and it absolutely gets me going every time. It's so sacred to me. I hate that something with such an ugly underbelly has that effect on me. That it brings me to such a comfortable and intimate place that I can finally lower my guard 🖤
