Terrific Multigenerational Musical Family: Miss Loretta Lynn, Miss Crystal Gayle, Miss Peggy Sue, Jay Lee Webb, Miss Patty Loveless, and The Lynns. And not the ONLY such Family in Kentucky as well. The Stanley Brothers. And Ricky Skaggs with Buck, Sharon, and Cheryl White.🤔🎤🎼🎸🎻💃📺B.W.
I remember when Loretta first started with The Wilburn Brothers Show...I was very very little but the memory is vivid to me. My dad put a TV in the kitchen just so he could always watch the show and let me know that Loretta Lynn was on. He was a single dad and did his best to entertain us all. May he rest in peace.
Didn’t realise Crystal Gayle had such a talented family and didn’t realise Loretta Lynn was his sister all have beautiful voices I haven’t really heard of the other two .............kim 🇬🇧
Wish they had shows like this today for those of us stuck in the '70s. I love Loretta's come back when he accidentally refers to Crystal by her real name 'Brenda' at 5:47. Loretta reminds him that it is "Crystal" and then goes on to say "what's wrong with you".
Wilburns were a class act....helped make Loretta Lynn a star and did so much to promote country music back in some hard times. Proud to be related to them.
Wilburn Bros were my mon's cousins...born and raised here in Hardy, AR. I had fortune to play opening for Crystal Gayle at Hardy in 1975 in her early years....Dusty Rhodes sponsored her show in hardy on July 4....we did two shows with her. She is great. Hope she remembers that!
Continued........from below........ I got to know Chrystal that summer and also the other artist with the troupe. Dhe captured my heart and admiration that summer and became a friend who will never be forgotten Even though I was one in a croud. She stayed in my heart along with Carl Walenda, Jim Ed, Helen, Blake, Delilia and Tino Walenda.
I had the immense pleasure of meeting Chrystal in the summer that this show was recorded. She sang River of Darkness and Wing of a Snow White Dove, along with Blake Emmons, Jim Ed Brown, and if memory serves right, Helen Cornileus. This was at the Enchanted Forest in Old Forge NY. I was a volunteer who worked with the Walendas,The lion tamer, and the pony and wagon rides. Crystal and the yong Walendas came to Rudy's Rail with some of the employees and had soda, pizza and had fun with us.
All three are still touring the country to this day. Loretta has an unstoppable touring schedule, and Peggy is on the road with Crystal and all are revere their fans. Loretta and Crystal have new CDs coming out sometime soon.
This was right around the time that Loretta renamed Brenda 'Crystal' and some of the people who knew her as Brenda were having a hard time getting used to it as was Brenda herself.
Sorry to be picky, but the song is 'Ribbon Of Darkness' and always has been. What a great performance by a young girl who went on to have more number ones than Loretta did.
She had more #1 singles than Loretta only in Billboard charts, not all the trade charts combined. The sad thing is she is only know for one of them today and all the rest are all but forgotten. Loretta became an ICON and a living legend in her life time.
The Rolling Stones had a song Called Stupid Girl In part of my dream of the singer Crystal Gayle I made a song similar to Stupid Girl I called it Sweet Sweet Girl In part of that dream I had I played all insturments Crystal Gayle and Loretta Lynn sang back up for me on the song I said Here,s my sweet Sweet girl I,ll never raise my fist to or swear in her face Or will I complain About such and such in the dream i released the song in 1975 as a country rock track I said My Sweet Sweet Girl I,ll never make her cry or slap me in the face I,ll never call her stupid she isn,t that in part of that dream It was about my foxy lady Ms. Crystal Gayle at the end of the song Crystall said to me come here baby I said She,s Mine not yours she kissed me it got on American Top 40
