I miss the paintball mode in 1.6 not mentioned in this video, had tons of fun playing it after school with my friends. I was already in my 20's when CSGO came out and now 11 years later being in my 30's getting a full group when people are dealing with kids, marriage, work and life in general is just not happening. CSGO is fun. but 1.6 will always be my favorite. Different times back then. Thanks for the nostalgia video👍
My favorite mod back in the day was deathrun maps. 1 or 2 players would be on one side of the map hitting buttons setting off traps (they could only use it once) and the other team would try to avoid them and use movement to try to bait the other team to use the buttons.
I miss so much combat SURF. It was my favorite gamemode on CS Source. Some years ago I was playing on a german server with tones of cool guys that were so good that made me play more and more and become as good as them. It was such a good time.
the slide and rocketjump has been adapted into someparts of bhop, some maps use knockback blocks as replacement for explosives and some parts have slide. AWP bhop still alive in some servers liek gasters too.
Having played so many hours in comunity servers on CS:GO there have been so many game modes I've seen come and go, from easily averaging 30+ people a server to a couple servers with 0 population hosted somewhere in eastern europe. Remember when I was younger having easily spent 2-3k hours on deathrun, minigames, courses, jailbreak and ttt servers as well as some also mentioned like hns and csurf/cbhop although cbhop is now more common as awp bhop at least for english speakers, basically the same but spawning in with awps and had an ok resurgence thanks to Darth Elmo and some tiktok shit. Also quite a lot of the time some of the random gamemodes would just get chucked in with minigames with slide maps soccerjam both being on the servers I played on but with very few maps.
Warcraft.... That's such a nostalgia trip. I spent hundreds of hours on this one css jailbreak warcraft server and eventually bought admin. It's kind of funny, that you can still find a lot of these strange game modes in csgo's Russian community.
Theres a game mode called 35hp that nowadays mostly only has russian servers and is basically vanilla csgo but 35hp and only knife But back in the day around 5-7 years ago there was a server called rp gaming where you could bhop with a bit lower gravity and ur starting velocity is really high. It was incredibly fun and felt like its own game where 2 teams jumped around trying to knife eachother
Combat surf was the first version of surf and yes, was the most popular during it's era, during it's reign, two other modes popped up, skill surf and one you didn't mention called tricksurf, which has its own history of players, maps and what not. HNS used to be originally played on random gamemode maps like aim/awp maps back in the day before it's started getting its own content, for example, hns_rooftops was originally called awp_rooftops, made way back in 2002 by a guy named Fishypants.
I don't know if anybody remembers that, but I once played in CS:S a gamemode that I cannot remember the name of. The map was basically a flat ground with huge wall in the middle. You had few minutes to "build" your spot, make it accessible to other players and then try to win as they came for you. You could use every prop from CS:S if I remember correctly. I would love to know the name of this gamemode. Maybe somebody also played that?
regarding the slide gamemode; while i never played it by itself it was often part of minigame collection maps in csgo back in 2016 those servers were very populated
There are so many niche gamemodes in the workshop as well including full on rpgs. Also actual hide and seek is in csgo as well where you literally hide on somewhere on the map..
RPG Surf servers were really fun as well. I used to run an rpg surf server, along with a bhop competitive server that was really fun back in the day. It was competitive, but the server was tuned so that you could achieve phoon levels of bhopping if you were skilled enough.
there’s a server called timetokill and it has slide maps, course maps, kz maps, and death run maps. very fun. it’s where i learned movement in the game.
dima with the long pauses with the black screen and the abrupt ending really have me thinking about my life, how its fallen apart and how I should fix, oooh hide & seek
If u are doing part two of this in 2016 there was popular which had actually working mini golf it was super fun but suddenly server closed i dont think u can find a proper server like this but its easy to find footage from it
Ahhh yes, I used to play slide all time time back in the older days of CS:GO with my friends. I don't understand how you could only find one video of it, I myself recorded videos (never uploaded and most likely will never find them). It was quite popular, I had no problem finding servers with plenty of players on. If I remember correctly, people didn't play just to set "new record times" as you said. You got put in 2 different teams and if you made it to the end there was a knife arena so the team with the most survivors would most likely win the round. And for a lot of rounds, no one made it to the end, so the team that had a player that made it the furthest won. I've actually thought about the game mode every now and then for the past years but I could only remember it was something that started with S and searching the community servers in hopes of finding something was impossible because of the surf gamemode.
I remember there were TTT servers and kinda formed community I used to play there TTT and I think I spent atleast 100 hours there, last time I checked, the server still exists but it was empty... Back in a day all the time the servers were almost full with all 32 slots filled
Yeah. It's a bummer. I used to go into headshot only pistol only death matches to warm up. Can't find them anymore. At least I haven't seen any. Just downloaded it again like 2 weeks ago.
Ah, yes, I remember playing combat surf in CS:S about 4 years ago. I'd love to play it again, but I don't know ip of that server. And yea, great video Dima, didn't know combat bhop existed.
i remember in 1.6 friend and i played a gamemode called nightcrawlers, basically T is super op, has a ton of health, can wall crawl and tp to a location.. oh yeah he is invis too.. he has to stab the cts which have regular guns w infinite weapons, we played that for months.. now it kinda died
as a hns player who quit cs a few years ago it makes me sad to see the state of hns, nobody jukes anymore and only care about staying alive and thus just run around instead of playing the gamemode the fun way, people also seem to care much more about their egos which admittedly they did before as well but not as much i am very sad :(
The best gamemode on cs 1.6 that i liked ao much it was Furien basically cts with guns hunts the ts that they have only knifes, can climb walls if they don't walk they can go invisible and they have double jump kinda crazy gamemode
I used to play round based surf in cs 1.6 days 24/7. Surf_ski 2 was the best map in my opinion. The rush to mario room to get shotgun first and kill everyone on ramps was so fun, plus there were admins on all the time so no camping with awp and that wasn't even possible in many servers cuz of camping penalties that made your screen goo black and pushed you around, no one killed enemies in jail aswell because that usually resulted in 160 minute ban xd. Just imagine these days putting Ts and CTs in one box and making them work together to get out and not shoot each other, impossible
i used to play a lot of COD mod on 1.6. it was pretty much like Warcraft but every class had a different combination of weapons but all of them could level the same stats like strength, int. hp. etc... you had the marine who had a usp and a knife but he could one shot kill with the knife so leveling up movement speed was important, or a class that had an mp5 but could throw 2 rockets by pressing E so an intelect build was better... fun times
I thought surf is one of the most popular game modes right now but I can't seem to find any decent serves. Could be also me since I sometimes connection problems or im just outdated since I just started playing again after a 5 year break.
Never heard of that HnS. Only HnS I know is that there's one T or CT designated as the seeker and the rest are hiders, without any weapons, not even the knife, and they actually do hide. They choose from a list of props to change their model to, like a microwave or a PC monitor, etc. and then literally hide in one location of the map, hoping the seeker won't find them.
thats prop hunt, hns also isnt actually hide and seek, i guess its just a name that stuck around orginally found the gamemode because i wanted to play hide and seek XD
Prop hunt makes sense thanks. But that's the only one I know of with the name hide and seek. I guess the dev didn't know it was called prop hunt originally.
hide is seek is properly done when actually hiding and not playing tag there are many hide and seeks maps on the workshop me and my friends used to play
I deff farmed super hero mode🤤 wc3, soccer and surf also surf rpg but that was mostly in source. I actually remember now in cs 1,6 hide n seek, there was prebuild blocks u could jump on bhupping to get to, then flash would freeze and such, was great fun.. would love to see it all return.
