Very interesting, have been in the upholstery business for 45 years and Osborne has been the top supplier of my tools. Top quality and I wouldn’t buy anything else. Made plenty of Sloy knives but not like that. I will be adding that to my list. Thanks for showing!

Can I get an update on your experience with this blade and it's steel quality. I know at first, it's easy to be in the "puppy love phase" so I'm curious if you are still liking and getting value from this historic blade. I have one ordered and arriving soon, and I've been watching this review on repeat!

@@birchbarksteel I still use this knife at my workbench for a variety of tasks. It holds an edge well and is easy to sharpen on Arkansas or water stones. I like it a lot.

@@workbenchknifeandtool Thanks for responding with such haste-it's appreciated! I'm a learning blacksmith, bladesmith, sharpener, and restorer of edged tools. So I value steel and have a passion for it. I tend to harken back to the old days of early trade knives/mountain man blades and styles for inspiration so when you spoke of the companies history, that pushed me over the fence. For that price. For USA made. For high carbon steel. For simplicity. All yes's in my book. You just earned yourself a follower. Thanks for sharing your insights. Cheers!

@@workbenchknifeandtool So..... Got mine in the mail yesterday from ordering it off of Amazon-similar to you at the same piece l price with the same reviews you referenced. The picture shows a different collar than what you and I received, and hard to tell, but my logo was etched and unclear if the one on the picture is stamped. Another thing, the grind was a little off -which isn't a huge deal, but when I was correcting it it sounded just "different". I've sharpened a lot of knives in my day, both carbon and stainless and variants, but it sounded "tingy" if that's ever a thing. Like HRC 65 or something! I thought, damn it may be really hard carbon content like my Spyderco Police 4 in K390 or my Roselli Wootz steel hunting knife, and got excited. Then when I was going to do some customization like I do, forced patina via "cold bluing" like I did on all my Russell Green Rivers or Old Hickory knives-something strange happened. I did the same procedure that I always do, wipe and clean off all oils and residues and then proceed. I noticed the following. ZERO bluing, I mean nothing! No visible change, even after oxidizing for some time. The change happens fast and then you use steel wool and water and repeat over until desired darkness. But this did nothing! Which means it's a cheap stainless or some other mixed alloy. I mean it took awhile and I got an edge on my Precision Work Sharp and whetstones and stropping, but it just reacted differently. You mentioned messaging them-multiple C.S. Osborne websites... Which is not a good sign. And unwilling to provide steel type because of copy cats? A maker should take pride in steel so you know how to maintain it's edge and care for it. Must knives you buy, custom or commercial usually state this. I'm pretty disappointed, I mean I love the simplicity of this thing, and history, but did we get bamboozled? Here's the screenshot of the company that sold it on Amazon. Delivered quick and well packaged. I'm just confused.
