Hard to go wrong with the New Drop Point Voyager by Cold Steel after watching your videos of these knife I gotta add it to my Voyager line up because it's a multi purpose folder and really reasonable price right now.
That thin, delicate tip is why I never got the XL Clip Point Voyager. I love that this blade has a sabre grind, instead of the full flat grind and I'm comfortable with the distal taper, since it doesn't taper as much as the Clip Point. When you can, definitely get a Talwar. It's not only beautiful, it's incredibly functional.
Thank you forr the comment. I like even the clip point version for it´s great slicing ability, but the fragile tip is there for sure.-( The Talwar and maybe the Hold out 6" are on my list definitely:-) FM
Hello Mantis, the new drop point complements all voyager line well, not as clunky as tanto and not so delicate as clip point or vaquero, great choice! It will be very interesting if you share your experience about the difference in heat treatment and edge retention of the new model compared to the old production one in future videos , since that things you can only know from an owner. As we know CS was sold and very few knows a real level of quality of new production.
Great detailed review. If you haven't tried I would recommend Extrema Ratio Rao II, which is my favorite folder. Going for the Extrema Ratio HF2D this month. Waiting for the Tops Tracker T3 in the mail now.
Nice detailed review. Is it true that the drop point Voyagers have solid polymer handles without the aluminum liners of the tantos and clip points though?
Hi and thank you. No, the Drop point version has generally the same construction (you can see it when I turn the knife in the right angle to the camera - at 10:38 for example) as the other XL Voyagers have. I forget to mention the aluminium liners here, but I mentioned them in the "Test" video. FM
The Mantis! I recently purchased a Roselli knife. The full tang 4in version. I saw it and had to have it. Very impressed with the UHC (Ultra High Carbon) steel.
Hi buddy, nice to see you again:-) I like those Scandinavian style knives and the Roselli knives look great so I belive, you are lucky man now;-) Are you going to make some video about the knife? Happy Eatser!:-) FM
@@forestmantis1737 Im not boasting-My knife collection easily exceeds $40****.** I could make 1 video a day for the next year and not cover everything. No fantasy or display pieces. All battle ready tools. I may have to take your advice :)
@@nevillesavage2012 Well, if you start I´m on my chair with a Cola, a Popcorn or what ever and looking for your collection:-) Seems like nice long set of knife episodes is coming soon, do it, please!!!:-) (God, I´m a knife nerd:-))) FM
Hi,looking for this blade, looks solid. Is It thicker behind the edge with comparsion to the clip point?btw nice and informative video.Thank You.Nech sa darí!
Hi, thank you and the XL Drop point has thicker the secondary bevel about 0,8mm, not bad, it is a good slicer, but the XL Clip point has about 0,6 on the bevel so it is even better slicer, but not as tough as the Drop point version. Vďaka a podobně:-) FM
Well, I don´t know. Our soldiers don´t carry these knives on a regular basis as I know, but if some do it personally...??? A saw many pictures of soldiers from different countries and what I saw was, it is really personal, soldier to soldier. IF I´ll be in military service and I will be looking for a folder, some of CS Recon folders or Emerson or CRKT (esp. with the new Deadbolt lock) will be on my list. FM
Hello!!! nice video ... I've wanted to buy a voyager for a long time, I wanted a Tanto voyager, but now I don't know what to choose between Tanto or Drop point. I have a good collection of coldsteel big folders, including the large and extra-large Espada in aluminum handle, but I'm in Aus8, and I wanted to buy the S35vn the large model. I want to make a gift for Easter and I really don't know what would be fantastic to choose. my wish list sounds something like this: bark river bravo 1.5 cpm3v, coldsteel Espada large s35vn, voyager (Tanto or drop point). honestly, I don't know what to start with? 🤔? can you please give me a suggestion, what would you choose from this list of mine, that is, in what order. thank you very much !!! 👀🙏.
Hi and thank you for the comment. You have got a big knife plan;-) I would go for the Voyager XL Drop point, just because it is a new knife design among Voyagers and also different blade shape out of those you named. And not only because of price, but also I see it as more practical;-) FM
Be careful buying this voyager drop point because it comes in two different types of steel you can get it in CS-29AB or AUS10A which is a better steel the AUS10A is the one I ordered
Hi, the CS-29AB isn´t a steel but some CS´s code for an item. This specific is for the L version of the knife. The CS-29AXBZ is the code for the XL version, which is my version of the knife and the knife in my video. They both are made of AUS 10A steel:-) Have a great time. FM
