One small issue: "Takarodjék", while vulgar, is not really as vulgar as "fuck off" (which would be "húzzon/takarodjon a picsába"). Maybe "begone" or "sod off" would be a better translation for it.
While it's true, it also has to mention that in the old times, lot of swears and phrase that we would assume nowadays as less vulgar, back than they were pretty strong. (For example think like "az istenfáját")
To give some clarification and context to this song: "Labonc/labanc": The name given to Austrian soldiers garrisoned in Hungary, or to pro-Habsburg nobles. It carries a negative connotation. "Kuruc": refers to anti-Habsburg insurgents. This song was written during the Kuruc-era spanning 1671-1711, which concluded with the end of Rákóczi's War of Independence (1703-1711). Some concessions were achieved (freedom of religion), which somewhat eased the temper felt against the House of Habsburg.
Austrians weren't the enemy; it was the Habsburg family. The Labanc and Kuruc are a great example of this. It came down to whether you supported the Habsburgs or not and not so much whether you were Austrian or Hungarian.
@@boomerix Do you think hungarians welcomed they well? In the ottoman occupied part of Hungary ethnic war between the two nationality were usual. Once the serbs attacked a city like Pécs, the who community left the city and emigrated to upper hungary, after city like Hódmezővásárhely revenged and genocided them all, and vica versa. The cities were built around with stone wall at the time cause of free armies whos looted the area and other communities, like serba who also wanted to get in safe place, but it was limited. There is many folk song about killing the other in both side. Do you need more reference?
Love to Poland from Hungary! We have always helped each other throughout our history (especially in the fight against the Habsburgs/oppressive powers) and if necessary, we will help each other in the future as well!
@@pek1yes, throughout our history we fought against the German Roman Empire and the Habsburgs as well. we also defended Europe against the Muslims. They were disbanded in 1920, 70% of our area was lost. Everyone let us down in 1956, but we are still here and we are keeping our 1,000-year-old nation alive.
Yes, though I suppose some of it is warranted. The Austrians were horrible to the Hungarians and the Slavs of the Kaiserreich. Regardless though, I don't appreciate being called a wretched race 😂
Some say that the "Takarodjék" line should be transalated to "Begone" or smthing like that but honestly as a Hungarian, fuck off is an accurate transalation for it because Takarodjék basically means that they should fuck off. It's the harsh version of begone, sod off, go away etc.

I'm German and I feel completely threatened 😂 It certainly doesn't increase my perception of the Hungarians but I have to remind myself that my Austrian brothers were jerks to the Hungarians
There are plenty of Hungarians that are called Lengyel a name by which Polish are still called where it is important to point out that unlike in Slavic languages where Brother similarly to English can be used in a causal way in Hungarian the word Testvér that translates BodyBlood which in simple English means Blood of my Body is a word Hungarian don’t use casually and most certainly not in the past where Polish where actually seen as literally blood of our body and consequently related nation while many where not which wasn’t a matter of language or religion but a matter of blood .🩸
@@jankubiak3218 Technically speaking Polish never betrayed Hungarians in the past while Hungarian unfortunately did so things like Hungarian-Polish friendship day …and other things is a Hungarians way of repentance I presume. This past connection where old fashioned meaning protecting another in case of war was pretty much a result of basic identity since one still perceived a family member as a family member if it lived in a different country-province ,speaks different language etc where Polish Hussar came to aid to Hungarian Hussar because they where Hussars which many people don’t understand what it ment but there are many documents, stories…that are clear on the matter for it wasn’t just a military organisation but a way of life a form of Hungarian type of Order of Knights which sometimes Hungarians have forgot and where reminded of by other Hussars.
Don't be sorry because Germans ruled over you and they were even ashamed to speak Russian and spoke French, Russians were slaves in their own country untill 1861, they could be easily sold for a pair of shoes, by their German, Polish or Tatar owners.

I know the two languages aren't related, but I couldn't help but notice a hint of Turkish in Hungarian. Maybe it has something to do with the agglutinative nature of both languages. Beautiful song.

Dude, Hungarians are Turkic People. Hungarians are an ancient people. They established a huge empire in Asia, but this empire was destroyed by the Chinese, then they had to emigrate under the pressure of the Chinese and came to Europe and established a huge empire here (Attila the Great era). But over time, this empire also collapsed too, first turning into the great Hungarian kingdom, and then becoming the smaller Hungarian state of today.
