CTIs use their multilingual skills to crack cultural codes for the Navy, so this should be just another workday for them. See who will have the last word. Ari did a phenomenal job at showcasing just how talented our CTIs are and how intense their training is at DLI (on his channel). He's a GREAT dude, and while I don't see him considering the Navy, I am super happy to see that he was available to get the word out there and help with outreach. We need talented people who want to do really cool stuff and are committed to becoming basically the best linguists on Earth. Outstanding! BZ, Shipmates.

Brilliant! Loved it! Well done Ari and girls, you were all amazing! Also loved seeing the Rosetta Stone model, which I saw at the British Museum a couple of months ago. Amazing to think that single stone unlocked the understanding of hieroglyphics to the world. Suddenly, all the Egyptian tomb writings etc were understandable.

I am very surprised, and actually ecstatic, that Xiaoma beat, on his OWN, two military grade linguists with specialist language instruction. If ever RU-vid closes down, for whatever reason, I'm sure the USN would have no hesitation in signing him up. One head is sometimes better than two, it's dependant on the knowledge and how you use it.

I think this and some selective enlistment/commissioning bonuses will help Navy recruitment numbers increase. Very impressed with Ari's abilities but I don't think he would enlist or take a commission in the military on any permanent basis. But if he did, it would be in the Navy because that is the coolest branch to be part of in my biased opinion😀

Dad was a CT from 1950s to 1971. But back then it was a bit more secretive about what a CT was. It did not stand for Cryptologic Technician, it was for Communication Technician. And it was broken down into different branches so that you had CTAs who were Administrative, CTIs who were Interpretative, CTOs who were Operative, CTMs who were Maintenance, and CTRs who were one who recorded the data. Dad's full rating was CTMCM. But prior to the later 1976 changes it was CTCM without denoting the branch part of the CT community. Communication Technician Chief Master went to Communications Technician Master Chief Maintenance. In other words, dad was one of the people who installed and maintained the equipment that the CTI, CTOs, and CTRs would use. Often as what now would be a Command Master Chief, but back then was known as a Leading Chief even if you were only a Senior Chief. Dad also served as Division Head in that role when there were no officers over the Division. As was the case when we were in Turkey in 1960-1962 and dad ( CTCS ) was a Senior Chief/ Leading Chief/Division Head all at the same time with about 20 people under him.
