Cub Cadet 3205 Directional Control Valve Leak Repair - Part 1: Disassembly & Diagnosis

While we’ve got easy access to it with the fender pan off our Cub Cadet 3205, let’s remove and disassemble the directional control valve and see why it’s leaking so terribly.

Oh hydrualics, always fun.. Viton orings are a bit tougher than nitrile , maybe worth a try. Sizing up is always fun.

I'm very surprised this video doesn't have more views! I'll be attempting this fix on my 3000 series next week. It's leaking from the top of the spool. It was apparently leaking for a while because the tranny was absolutely covered in stuck on dirt and gunk.

Super common issue with the 3000 Series tractors. I don't know if I have ever seen one with the original spool valve seals intact and not leaking. Thanks for commenting and good luck with the repairs.

Great job explaining the hydro (i have 2 of 100 series cubs.)there a perfect tractor for nh winters and dependable too .i hope the guy Mississippi can find one .take care

Thanks for the video. I'm on a few Facebook groups with you. These 3000 Series are great GTs from everything I have seen but they have their own issues like this. The pedals wearing out, gas tanks etc. On my 1863 I had a random hydraulic leak that would come and go on the right side. It was a selective issue. Found out it was just an O ring on the pressure relief valve. I havent seen any fluid since then. Just a lot of work to get to that o ring haha

Hey Trent! Yeah the Cyclops use the same valve as the 3k, so this repair does apply to yours, if you ever need to rebuild it. Seems like the 3ks are more prone to failure for whatever reason.

Why does it only have one hydraulic lever? I have the HDS 3205 and it has two levers. Do I have some weird version? I have only seen one other with two levers and its for sale on marketplace.

The 3000 Series came standard with one hydraulic circuit. You could add three more valves for a total of four circuits. The third valve would be located on the opposite fender (which required cutting the sheet metal). To find one with all four is rare.
