Perfect timing that model is next up on my repair list. I would have sworn that gasket went between the carb and air filter box. When it first started ruff I was sure you'd have to move it. Nice job! Thanks for the videos.
I have this mower and love it. I never had any issues with it. And it’s a 2007. Starts every year. Maybe cause I store it properly. But this thing is awesome.
I am working on a nearly identical mower with the same engine and a similar issue. It will run for exactly a second and never gets up to full speed, no matter what I do to it. On this machine, the choke system is not functioning properly. The choke lever seems to be about an inch too long, and the choke cannot move when the carburetor is in it's proper location. Have you had this issue with this engine? It was like this when I got it, and I can't come up with any solution beyond shortening the choke lever. The governor arm is touching the breather tube, and is actually wearing a hole in it. I can't figure out if something is seriously wrong with the machine, r if it is a poor design. I have never worked on one of these before.
hm this is interesting i have this same mower, mine has a self propelled option and it doesnt have that mystery gaket maybe i should put one on.. it also has a gasket a metal one that goes on the side of the filter housing.. mine starts tehn stalls everytime..idk much about these mowers..the pull cord also rips out of my hands sometimes.. feels like its going to rip my arm off
So this engine is notorious for valve clearance issues. Take the valve cover off the front and see what the clearance is. You should also have a gasket from the carb going to the intake
@@PNWSmallEngineandLawn i put a gasket on i bought a new carb package for about 30 bucks i put a gasket on to hug the filter housing and now its works fine.. so that one gasket made all the difffernce no more revving or that high then low running
Bowl nut was a standard bowl bolt and the gasket I believe I used either a Honda or Tecumseh gasket. Probably a Honda. If you look for a gcv160 rebuild kit it should have everything
I have a Cub Cadet 173cc self-propelled mower from 2006 and ordered a replacement carb for it but the fuel inlet on the carb is smaller than the one on the original carb and it leaks when I try to clamp the fuel hose on it. The new carb came with a smaller hose that will fit the inlet but is not as long as original larger hose to reach the tank. How can I fix that? I tried putting the smaller hose into the larger hose and it doesnt leak but the mower will not start. Is there a special reducer type of connector that I can get to properly connect the two hoses or another remedy? I put a new spark plug in and I think the gaskets for the new carb are in proper order, it doesnt appear to leak anywhere but the fuel inlet when the larger hose was attached of course.
You can use the original fuel line size and go from the tank and install a fuel shut off or a fuel filter. Then install the new fuel line going from the carb to the filter or fuel shut off. Usually I will take the smaller fuel line and warm up the end that would connect to the tank. Usually warming the line will allow it to stretch enough to go over the fuel tank outlet
