The Cuban Yoyo has been my primary fishing reel for over a year now. Cuban Yoyo fishing is quite effective. Be sure to comply with laws and regulations in your district.
The Cuban yoyo fishing reel is as good at casting as it is trolling or drifting. It is the most elegant handline reel I have ever used. Line slips off the beveled side of the reel, and when properly made is light weight even when made of wood.

Cuban yoyo hand reel is another name for it. It is a handline reel first an foremost, but I have managed to mate this will a cane pole for shock absorbtion and rod-and-reel-like castng. It works well.
Cuban Yoyo Handline Fishing has become my favorite way to fish. The reels are designed to last a lifetime. Made from the same materials as boat builders use like epoxy and spar varnish to make a solid uv resistant unit.

Those are really nice looking. If you center drill the blank, you could use a beam type circle cutter on a drill press to cut out the center of the blank. It would give you a smoother finish that would require less sand paper/file work to finish up.

Ah! I know exactly what you're talking about. That would make it much easier. It'd make a clean cut, and the only sanding would be to round off the edges.

Yeah, should work well. If they don't cut deep enough, you can cut halfway through and then flip the yo-yo over and cut the other way for the other half using the same pilot hole. If your drill press table is 90° square to the chuck, it should make a nice cut.

Brother, you need a 3 jaw Chuck to hold it while you finish the center.

Nice work if you put a sponge under your sandpaper it will not heat up so bad .

I love your yo-yos. I would really like some woodburn along the center hole to customize it with the name of our boat. Would you be willing to turn a couple blanks? Why not use clamps for the glue-up? And have you solved the separation issue yet? Cause I have a few ideas about how to completely avoid any kind of filing. As in, "wood plate chuck" for example. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bl74JOZSyUc.html

Yup, I do use clamps, and I have solved the parting issue. No, I don't use a jaw chuck. A simple faceplate is best.
