Cube 2 Hypercube - Movie Review 

The writer definitely did not write this because he is a marvel fan. A hypercube is a very real thing in the field of theoretical mathematics. This movie is about a lot of things, none of which you highlighted but it mainly continues the themes of the first movie about an unseen powerful force (in this movie they finally gave it a name "Izon") that controls and does whatever it wants for reasons that it never reveals. The first movie left it too open to interpretation which can be good if done right but I felt it was just lazy writing in the first one and a lot of writers do that in film. This movie gave us some pieces and build it into a somewhat believable entity, A powerful black budget weapons manufacturers that seems to go hand in hand with governments. We have those in real life and those are just the corporation we know of, I am sure there are some off the books that do a lot in that world. Like any cutting edge technology, especially if the corporation specializes in the manufacturing of weapons, much testing is needed and that is what this movie hints at big time. That the entire Hypercube was just a test run and experiment for teleportation. Each door is a portal leading to the same cube just in a different space and time, that is also one of the many fundamental qualities of a Tesseract, is that it actually made up of cubes much like how a cube is made up of squares. It is a theory (one of many) that instantaneous travel, especially over great distances, can be achieved through a higher spatial dimension which also confirms what this movies says about Izon testing their latest product (Quantum Teleportation). Many of the concepts and theories in this film are backed by real science or scientific theories and considering the tiny budget they had to work with, I thought it was done well. Also worth noting is they had to hire very unknown actors for this movie due to the low budget and these unknown actors were asked to carry the weight of the whole movie. Because of the nature of the story and how it takes place in one (technically the same room in different space-times) room and was almost entirely dialogue and so this movie was dependent on the performance of these actors in a very difficult situation that is hard to pull off for even the most seasoned actors. When you take all of that into consideration, it is actually impressive what these actors and writers were able to pull off, I know there was some blemishes and unnecessary exposition (which I hate the most) but I see way more exposition and bad writing in the biggest Hollywood productions all of the time. This movie gives us way more than it should for what it was working with and it doesn't insult the audience by spoon feeding us. It challenges the audience to think in ways they probably haven't and to consider other possibilities to ultimately solve this mystery. And that is what the film is, a mystery story.

I never saw this movie. I'll put it in the maybe pile.

Great movie!!!! Not as good as the first. But the concepts and real scientific theory beyond makes up for that.

Just finished watching it. I rented it on RU-vid, I want my money ba... Actually, I want my time back. Maybe that was the point of the hypercube, to waste my time.
