Hi Karl, I reside in Central Scotland near Stirling. I have a Cube Proreaction 500. It's near 4 years old with 8k on the clock. Fastest I have achieved is 44.5 mph going down a hill at the Path o' Condie and I am 62 and 14 stone. Bike is not chipped. It regularly exceeds 40mph down a hill with a bit of pedaling. You should swop out these Schwalbe Smart Sam (29 X 2.6) tyres for Schwalbe Hurricanes (29 X 2.4) which are more road friendly with less drag. These Hurricanes are also good off road as well.

You're a braver man than me going that fast. The last time I did that was in the 1990s and it scared the hell out of me! Good fun though. I will change the tyres at some point. They've done over 700 miles so far and the grip is still good. Not sure about the puncture resistance though. I've had two in the last week!

@@KarlVaughan, Change your tyres to a pair of Continental Contact Plus, 50-622. They offer the best puncture resistance, and the fastest I've been on my 2022 Cube Touring is 47 mph on the back roads in West Wales. On my 2018 Cube Cross with 47-622 Conti tyres I once went 51mph downhill at Clywedog Reservoir. 9,000 miles over 5 years with only 1 puncture. The extra weight of the Contact Plus doesn't matter so much on E-bikes.

I ride up in the Dales area around Malham and the Trough of Bowland on a Cube Reaction 750. I guess hills are different to different people.

I've since cycled up much steeper hills than this one locally. There was one in High Wycombe that was a challenge. That was during my 60 mile ride recently. They are great bikes.

A Candence sensor with a rear hub motor for that sort of riding.

I find it's just fine as it is. I've since done steeper hills than that one and it climbs well.

@@KarlVaughan 👍 . these mid-drives need alot of effort to trigger the power , IV tried both types and stuck with the rear hub for long distance touring. They just keep rolling with next to no effort. Then again I'm looking for a motorbike type of feel from the bike not a realistic cycling experience.

This is my third e-bike. I started with one of those Chinese folding fat tyres bikes which weighed a ton. It was a fun ride but not very practical. I then sold that and got a lightweight hybrid e-bike which was ok but the frame size didn't suit me. I'm not happy with my Cube and I find it very responsive. If I can quite happily do 60 miles on it without too many issues then I'm onto a winner. Hopefully I'll get a few years out of it.

What kind of milage do you get from a full charge? Also, what mode were you riding on? I really want one of these bikes

It varies depending on terrain but on my last ride I did just over 39 miles and from a 100% charge the battery was at only 54% at the end. I usually use Tour Plus mode but for steep hills I put it into EMTB. I'm really impressed with the range of this bike. Given I'm 95kg or around 16st in weight that's pretty good going. I'll be putting up a video of that long ride soon.

Try turbo it makes a big difference from EMTB as it has overrun.

I tried turbo when going through a tricky muddy and wet tree root covered woodland section recently and it really helped me.

@KarlVaughan I'm 65 and find turbo best on longer draggy hills it gives much more assistance than EMTB. The hill in this video would have been so much easier in turbo.

The next time I encounter a big hill I will give it a go.

Call that a hill, come with me and ride in Peak District. I’m 69 years young and ride a Cube Reaction 750 Race and I’m 210 lbs of fat lol ,

Haha, yes I know. The Chilterns are nothing compared to places further north. I've walked in the Peak District so I know how it is up there. I imagine the bike does really well.

Do you lose weight with an e-bike?
