Cubetto Playset by Primo Toys
What is it?
Cubetto is a wooden robot for preschool children. Through the screenless board, kids send this little robot to solve challenges, while learning basic programming concepts, such as commands, sequence, queue, and function line.
This robot toy for kids hides under its case an Arduino board with a micro USB port for updates, Bluetooth, and two motors, one for each wheel.
The Interface Board has slots to place magnetized and colored instruction blocks. The playset includes 6 green blocks to go forward, 4 red blocks to turn right, 4 yellow blocks to turn left, and 2 blue blocks called Function. The Interface Board has sensors that read the blocks and through Bluetooth sends commands to the robot.
To play with Cubetto, use your gridded World Map. Each square is a place you can go. With the Adventure Book that comes with the set, create programs on the Interface Board and guide the robot to solve challenges. You can also create your own games, setting up your obstacles and taking Cubetto to the goals you want.
Who is it for?
If you are between 3 and 6 years old, curious about technology, and want to learn programming while you play, Cubetto is for you.
What else does it offer?
Cubetto comes with an Interface Board, 16 Instruction Blocks, one Adventure Book, an Instruction Guide, and a World Map.
You can have more options to play by buying other Instruction Blocks and different Maps with its Adventure Books.
On the Primo Toys website, you can also find ideas and activities to expand your gaming possibilities.
How do you use, prepare, and assemble it?
Cubetto does not need assembly, smartphones, or tablets. Place the batteries both on the Interface Board and into Cubetto. When you turn them on, they connect automatically through Bluetooth.
Arrange the Instruction Blocks on the Interface Board’s Queue in the order you want Cubetto to move. You also have the Function Line to create a subroutine, which is executed with the blue function block.
Press the blue button to Go so that Cubetto can execute the commands.
