Have you ever thought about the horrifying implications of Nekos? We should consider how lucky we are to not be them and for them not to exist. Honestly, take a moment and think about it. How were they created? Did Nekos evolve from cats to look like humans? Why would that be? Since cats live fine lives now there's no reason evolution would lead to that. Or are humans and cats having *cough* you know, and causing the creation of these mixed breeds. That goes for all anthros. And are their anthro monkey humans, we came from monkeys, and is that racist. Let's keep this fiction fictional. Plus Nekos are basically just degraded slaves since they are meant to have the same intelligence as humans just with feline traits like cat ears claws and a tail.

There are a lot of strange implications, and I think there are quite a few script authors who explore that. Some authors write their scripts as taking place in a world where Nekos have always existed and humans are themselves just one of many different species in world filled with sentients of all stripes. One of the friendlier sci-fi options involved Nekos being something like humans in a cyberpunk world who really are into the aesthetic and are voluntarily transformed. Most seem to leave it up to the listener's imagination, like this one.

Humans as a species exist because we caused all rivals to go extinct (think homo Erectus) so their existence as a species makes no sense since ancient humans would've genocided them. If you think that's unlikely look at history, we've even done it to other humans both Native Americans and Jews. Humanity is evil. And Nekos make no sense existing as their own species.
