In the video for 'Cinnamon,' Smith Westerns lead singer Cullen Omori takes a turn as a Keanu Reeves dopple left for dead in a sanitarium, staring blankly at some Animal Planet reruns on a flickering tv set. When a home video he took of a former flame (Sonia Kinski) crackles eerily onto the screen, he wakes from his stupor and escapes into the night. Haunted by his past and stalked by the dark parts of his psyche, Cullen makes it through the streets of Chinatown to the blue bed at other end.

I hear this song and I'm suddenly everywhere I've ever been throughout my entire life and it makes me want to break down into tears. I'm at a convention, I'm exploring, I'm walking arm in arm with someone who cares for me deeply, I'm staring at the stars, I'm sitting on the docks wanting nothing more than to capture that moment until the end of eternity knowing that we're going to have to walk back to the shore and not see each other again. Shits tough.

after reading through interviews, i think it's not a shot at the band or the members, just more along the lines of the imagery of "burning bridges" to portray to the fans at that point in the video

+Papa Bear nah, he seems to be pretty sour about it unfortunately. He was literally burning their posters just a few months back. And when he talks in interviews he never once mentions the guys being on good terms. I don't get why, and I don't like that he resents Smith Westerns, but at the end of the day he knows more about their situation and their reasons so it is what it is.

Super nice song and vocal work. You have a way of sounding like a 4 member vocal group, and not just the studio tricks, but that range gives you tons of options for songs. Best to you and keep up cranking out as many as you can.

+Danny Keyes +Matt Hoefler Plus Cullen had some heroin problems throughout the bands successful days. Heard a rumor that the original drummer of the band ended up selling his drum kit for drugs and basically quit the band back in the early stages. (That's why the band never had an original drummer). Great musicians and all, but I think drugs and music indifferences were the reason Max decided he wanted a fresh start. They basically recorded Soft Will because they had to. At that point, they had to follow up the critically acclaimed Dye It Blonde. I think at that point, Max wanted out and hooked up with Whitney. I'm still a huge fan of Cullen's work, but it's sad to see such an unfortunate demise of such a great band. #allhailChicagomusic

Those 3 smith westerns albums will be talked about very highly in the future. Back in 2013, I just had finally gotten over Tame Impala Lonerism and soft will came at the perfect time. I heard about Whitney four months ago, and from what I heard so far, there good, I'm seeing them Wednesday night in Portland.

You be serious, You make awesome stuff while somehow keeping the same sound from the last album but by God DO NOT EVER and I mean EVER sound repetitive and if you even think about doing something you like, especially if what you like sounds poppy, bouncy and fun and someone else doesn't like, then damn you to heck and may Satan shove his butt hurt wrath up your backside. You're entitled to your opinion and own personal tastes. Just realize that what you like doesn't reflect what everyone else likes, Indie music has evolved and is more than Sonic Youth, The Pixies and The Melvins, Great bands, Yes, But not all the genre has to offer...Indie music can literally range to anything from Jazz to Hip Hop to Punk...And yes, Even to Pop.
