How do you think they cook the fish for for fish pie? You then use that fish flavoured milk to make the roux for the sauce. Always makes me laugh seeing people so confidently take the piss out of valid cooking techniques
Kay seems like a lovely person. She has a loveable personality. Nothing wrong with her cooking. She tries new recipes, and prepares simple homely meals.
Yea had to look it up too cause this is just too weird. I've always been taught that fish and milk don't mix, although the real thing does look pretty good and rather intriguing.... the recipe is so simple too, I don't know how anyone can butcher it so badly.
@Weird Files How is telling someone that they're bad at something "toxic"? If you think this is toxic wait until you have to get a job, work with other people, and deal with daily criticism. I suggest you grow up quickly kid, or the world is gonna roll you.
@Weird Files Lol I'm not your "son" hun. And if you think that criticism is toxic then _you_ are with a problem sweetie. There are a few comments that are unnecessarily rude and nasty, but those are few and far between. Most others are simply pointing out how bad she is at cooking while also noting that she makes no effort to improve. Surely you're not expecting me and others to pat this woman on the back for a terrible job? Just imagine what a mess life would be if we all just praised each other regardless of how bad we did our jobs.
i will give you tips since i was born 5 miles from cullen, and know the right receipe. in short the tatties are cooked in a pan full of full fat milk with the fried onions, the cullen way is either to add creme or carnation milk, its better to use undyed smoked haddock if you can get it, with no skin on it. and a handfull of oatmeal is added, put the fish in when the tatties are alomost cooked pepper and salt to taste. there is no need for herbs but some people like to add for colour, so maybe a sprinkle of dill or chives after you have served it up.
"it said oil and marge" No it didn't Kay, I'm fairly certain it would have said butter - How many times and how many comments will it take before you understand that Marge is made from oil and Butter from milk and they are not the same thing?
Kay, If a recipe said add milk, would you add a bottle of vegetable oil instead and expect it to turn out right? Just because marge looks like butter, it is not even remotely the same thing. If you ever want to rename your channel back to 'good cooking' by stopping so many of your recipes going wrong, using butter when a recipe ask for butter would be a good start. So many ppl try to help you by giving sound cooking advice and yet you ignore them.
Kay - you keep using what you prefer! You’re totally right that in most cases sunflower oil spread (what you call marg) is a perfectly good, arguably healthier (less saturated fat) substitute for butter. Sunflower/olive spread isn’t just “oil”; it’s been hydrogenated so it behaves differently. At the end of the day both butter and oil based spreads are just fats/lipids.
Searching for Cullen Skink, I think I found where Kay gets some of her recipes from! What's for Tea? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jwhATjoaB8A.html Except most of what's on that channel is delicious Scottish comfort food! But the way she talks, it feels like Kay watches her but then gets it out of order. p.s. Kay's new channel is "Kay's Cooking" with the apostrophe s, if you're missing her!
Where I'm from we have this salmon fish soup that also uses milk/cream and veggies like potatoes and Carrots! I use salt and some veggie or chicken cubes to flavour! I'm sure this tastes awesome!!!
Please invest in a bigger and more modern kitchen to cook in this one looks dirty and way too small as you have not got any worktop space and stop using plastic bowls get nice pyrex ones they are not to expensive.
I looked up the real thing, it's actually not as disgusting as it looks/sounds lol. I actually low-key kinda want to make it myself.... Lol the funny part is though is that the recipe is pretty simple and straight-forward. This woman has a truly unique talent for fucking up in the kitchen.
Your food sh!t, make Uncle Roger cry. Oh c’mon....yer making soup.....MORE MILK! It is meant to be soup, not solid! And....that’s not a knife! Part of me believes (and is thus saddened in the extreme) that this is not a parody.
Nice one kay, my mum always poached the smoked haddock in milk, we loved it as kids and mum usually cooked it on Saturday with bread and butter. Had this soup first time in scotland it's so delicious. Well done kay. 👍👍👍
*Knife slips nearly missing Kay’s finger* Me- Darn, almost thought we were getting another blood & potato dish. I thought blood was most witches fave ingredient when casting a spell.
