I remember the sound of the M from my childhood. Spent many hours on one starting at the age of 6 on my Pa's farm. It didn't seem so small back then but it does now. Good old tractors that last for years. This one looks like a great original survivor. Thanks for sharing 11 years ago now. I hope you both are still in the same condition as then.
Spent many early years working the crops with 1930's Poppin Johnny. Installing the cultivators and mowers was hard when a little kid. I used old car screw jacks to lift the iron into place for bolting to the hard points. No hydraulics, only long handled squeeze levers to lift and detent the equipment. Built muscle.... 'bullies didn't kick sand in my face' :>)
as a kid I looked to my neigh or and said what an odd tractor I like my dad's mf 35 better I could not do with out the 3 point hydraulics I thought it was so slick
@JamesTyreeII Two reasons: 1. We enjoy working on it. 2. The deer really don't eat the corn stalks. They really eat the leftovers at the end of the year. We cultivated so that it wouldn't have weeds in it, then we borrowed a corn picker from a local farmer and picked 80% of it and sold it to him. We made back all the money we spent on seed and fertilizer/lime. Then we knocked down the rest of it for the deer and other animals to pick at during the winter.
@hayfork100 No. What you see is in that middle row we ran out of corn while planting, so when we were cultivating we went over that real good, with no concern for what little corn was in there and then came back and planted some pumpkins in that section.
I have an L and have the cultivators for it too. Haven't put 'em on yet. These old tractors are great! Thanks for the video. Watch my video - I just posted it.
I am enjoying your video. Having said that, WHY ? Why cultivate. The deer are going to be eating this. Let it all grow up and save time, fuel and wear and tear on you and your equipment. Honestly, the deer do not care. Cultivate food for you for maximum production, but remember that the deer will mow down your place and move on. If they are hungry, they will come cultivated or not.
